Engineer I – Electrical
What You’ll Do:
- Apply innovative design techniques to create defense-oriented, cutting-edge electronic systems.
- Work in a fast-paced team environment on a variety of R&D, proof of concept, and production programs.
- Design digital and analog hardware including FPGA-based systems. Assignments will include component selection, schematic capture and hands-on lab debug.
- Gain exposure to a wide variety of design and technology areas supporting tactical RF, antenna, and imaging systems.
- Design and implement test fixtures including test plans for both chip-level and board level environments and create reusable circuits that can be utilized across multiple projects.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Support Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
What You’ll Need:
- BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 2 or more years related experience.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- Strong circuit design, documentation and implementation of high-speed digital electronics, analog sensor interfaces, FPGAs, and embedded processor systems.
- Experience with signaling rates in the GHz range.
- Experience in signal and power integrity analysis of digital/FPGA designs preferred.
- Background in embedded firmware development in C preferred
- Power supply design and system level EMI/EMC and grounding experience preferred.
- Experience in developing specifications, and resource requirements for analog/digital/FPGA designs.
- Background with tactical military platforms and hardware preferred.
- Familiarity with OrCAD CIS for schematic design preferred.
- Digital system partitioning and function implementation in FPGAs and simulation preferred.
- Experience with Xilinx FPGAs and SoCs, and Vivado preferred.
- Designing for tactical environments (temperature, shock, vibration) preferred.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong presentation skills.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or clean room, outdoors or remote research environment.
- May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
- May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
- Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
A current DoD clearance and/or SCI access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position, however applicant must be willing and eligible for submission within 60-90 days after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access. Compensation & Benefits:
- HIRING SALARY RANGE: $84,000 - $104,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
