Why this role?

As Director, Technology Engineering you'll be responsible for defining and implementing the strategic goals related to DHI's technology organization as it pertains to DHI site and service product roadmaps, technologies, processes, and people.

In this role, you'll be responsible for:

  • Leading key external site and services development teams: dice.com customer, identity, and jobs management
  • Overseeing and actively participating in the architecture definition and implementation of the technical applications and systems infrastructure supporting DHI's public facing and internal sites and applications
  • Leading, mentoring, and motivating technology team ranging from individual contributors to principle engineers
  • Overseeing multiple technology projects through the full lifecycle, from conceptual/definition stages to production delivery and ongoing operations
  • In collaboration with other technology leaders, defining common technologies and tools and identify opportunities for leveraging standard/3rd party products and platforms
  • Refining and ensuring execution of agile development processes across technology teams
  • Defining and implementing software engineering practices, such as design standards, coding standards, peer views, quality assurance, testing, etc.
  • Hiring and developing staff and ensures talent management practices are followed
  • Defining and implementing staffing models with a balance of productivity, flexibility, and cost
  • In collaboration with other technology leaders, ensuring IT Service Management processes are defined and followed at the appropriate level of discipline/structure
  • Defining and managing strategic infrastructure roadmap as well as the portfolio of related tactical projects
  • Working with other technical leaders and business owners on defining and scoping projects; resolve competing priorities.

For this role, we're requiring:

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Broad experience with multiple technology platforms as both hands-on contributor and manager
  • Exceptional ability to translate and communicate between business and technical domains
  • Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to juggle competing priorities
  • Exposure to a broad range of software development methodologies and concepts (agile, waterfall, DevOps, continuous delivery, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills individually and in groups, orally and in writing
  • Broad experience with a diverse set of hosting platforms from on-premise, to IaaS and public cloud
  • Broad experience with a high volume and highly available set of public-facing web applications
  • Broad experience with various internal business application platforms.

Education, Experience

  • Bachelors degree in technical, business, or related field or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience managing development teams with multiple manager level direct reports
  • 5+ years of experience managing project delivery of commercial software products with small to medium sized teams
  • Experience working with cloud based solutions, AWS preferred
  • Experience with agile development process required.

Compensation

Base salary/pay of $170,000 – $210,000 per year, plus 15% annual bonus at 100% of plan targets tied to company and individual performance. Offer will depend on location and level of job-related knowledge, skills, abilities and experience.
