Where you fit in:

As a member of a fast-growing, you will lead the software engineering team as they build a comprehensive suite of mobile and web apps for a wide range of customers and use cases. You will act as a leader and mentor for a growing team, support ongoing process improvements both within software engineering and cross-functionally, and collaborate closely with product teams to continuously deliver an exceptional user experience for our customers.

You are a good fit for this position if you are motivated by building a lean, efficient, supportive, and innovative software team, highly organized and collaborative, and have experience managing mobile, web, QA, and data platforms.

  • Javascript (Vue), Go, Python, Kotlin, Swift
  • AWS (Serverless), Terraform

 

What you’ll get to work on:

  • Ownership over the engineering delivery and process of day to day software engineering of mobile and web applications and APIs
  • Directly manage members of the software team, empowering and coaching them to deliver great results
  • Work with engineering leads to establish processes that support scale and quality
  • Oversee development, monitoring, and maintenance of critical backend infrastructure
  • Oversee QA team for efficient integration of quality practices with development
  • Report to and collaborate with the CTO on overall technology strategic direction
  • Provide leadership and managerial mentorship to senior engineering leads
  • Support members of the software team through ongoing career development
  • Support engineering technical leaders in the architecture and design of critical systems
  • Nurture an engineering culture comprised of curiosity, collaboration, and accountability
  • Collaborate with hardware engineering and data teams
  • Collaborate closely with product teams on roadmap development and delivery
  • Lead recruiting efforts for the software team and support other engineering hiring efforts 
  • Provide a bridge between the software team and other business units
  • Oversee software team budgeting activities

 

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years managing software engineering teams
  • 5+ years of managing engineering teams at a high growth organization
  • Experience managing mobile, web, and backend applications
  • Strong organization leadership skills
  • Strong experience evaluating, implementing, and overseeing SDLC approaches
  • Extensive experience working with a growing engineering team, both in people and process
  • Effective in recruiting, hiring, and onboarding strong engineering candidates 
  • Experience with engineering change management
  • Experience bringing software products from inception to market
  • Experience with building B2B and enterprise platforms, including complex features, integrations, and security
  • Experience establishing development roadmaps in collaboration with Product teams
  • Experience working with and balancing a fast-paced, environment with steady and predictable team delivery
  • Knowledgeable about industry trends and best practices

 

It’s a plus if you also have…

  • Experience building IoT software applications or collaborating with hardware teams
  • Experience collaborating with data science and engineering teams
  • Experience managing hybrid and blended teams of internal and external members
  • Experience building technology for global health and/or supply chain industries

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Market competitive salary with an anticipated base compensation range of $160,000-$200,000. Actual salaries will vary depending on a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and location.
