About the Role
This position leads a team of approximately 40 + SRE's and is a mission-critical, high-impact role where you will define and manage the strategic and technical direction, culture and execution that enables every engineering team at Sling TV to ship reliably, securely and efficiently at scale . The SRE team will architect and drive technical roadmaps, operational and service ownership strategy and end-to-end incident management . He/she will be a results-driven executive with a strong understanding of modern software and infrastructure design, development, testing and cloud-native delivery methodology. What You'll Do
The Director of SRE , will lead , hire and grow a highly skilled team of SRE's while identifying, prioritizing and executing opportunities that empower engineering teams with availability, performance, efficiency, resiliency, change management, and incident response. An ideal candidate will have a strong background in driving service uptime and quality in a 24x7 environment while exceeding customer and stakeholder expectations. The role includes the ability to perform the following:

 

  1. Lead , hire and grow a team of high-caliber SREs.
  2. Manage an SRE organization of 4 0+ glo bal 24X7 team members.
  3. Own the blueprint for Reliability/SRE, Incident Management and culture while considering reactive and proactive approaches.
  4. Foster a culture of blameless incident analysis and learning beyond root cause with a focus on reducing MTTD, MTTR and MTBF.
  5. Manage and execute a reliability and resiliency roadmap that delivers on tooling and overarching projects to make the system more resilient.
  6. Drive large initiatives by collaborating across multiple teams and stakeholders.
  7. Participate in global industry forums to share our knowledge and receive feedback in the streaming space.
  8. Regularly evaluate and drive improvements in current systems for capabilities, performance, scale, challenges and growth.
  9. Promote the adoption of modern software a nd infrastructure development standards.
  10. Drive simplicity and increase the resilience and scale of our services.

As part of our leadership team, you will use your management and technical acumen to seek opportunities and drive broad improvements across the organization.
Skills, Experience and Requirements
Skills, Experience and Requirements
The successful candidate will have the following attributes/qualifications:

 

 

  1. Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university and 5 + years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Prior management of SRE teams.
  3. Experience establishing and measuring OKRs and SRE team goals.
  4. Strong experience running AWS infrastructure at scale with IaC.
  5. Strong experience in building immutable infrastructure with Packer, terraform and ansible.
  6. GitOps experience with Gitlab and Kubernetes.
  7. Experience with application/infrastructure monitoring and observability using OpenTelemetry.
  8. Experience in CDN and caching technologies.
  9. Strong architecture and system design sense with experience developing and deploying microservices and APIs at scale.
  10. Ability to influence the team on built-in quality.
  11. Passion for product quality and attention to detail.
  12. A demonstrable commitment to continuous self-improvement - a leader by example.
  13. Experience in a fast-moving and cross-functional environment
  14. Collaborative and team-oriented approach.
  15. Experience delivering complex software and infrastru cture releases on tight schedules with high quality.
  16. Experience leading large initiatives by collaborating across multiple teams and stakeholders.

Salary Range
Compensation: $175,000.00/Year - $225,000.00/Year
