We are seeking a Director, Quality Engineering to join our team and help us achieve our ambitious goals for our business and for the planet.

What you get to do:

We are searching for a Director of Quality Engineering who is passionate about improving quality building a new foundation for the clean energy software ecosystem. You’ll work within our “Connect” line of business to build a new unified developer platform that facilitates access and interaction with energy data.  This is an exciting opportunity to support the development of the framework on which a multitude of utilities and 3rd party providers will build products that touch the majority of homes and businesses in the U.S. This is a high-visibility role as you’ll get to work side by side with our strategic partners and help shape the future of our platform product strategy.

What you will contribute: 

  • Provide visibility to program status (key decisions, dependencies, issues, risks, metrics, etc.) on an ongoing basis through push status reporting (to all stakeholders, team members, and interested parties).
  • Manage "program/feature" dependencies across multiple teams, functions, divisions, and stakeholders.
  • Anticipate and aggressively remove obstacles that slow down or prevent project teams from delivering on project goals.
  • Develop strong partnerships with functional leaders to drive focus on business objectives. Be a trusted partner for executive management to ensure program success.
  • Support workgroup alignment meetings to address tactical release issues, dependencies, team status, production issues, metrics review, milestones, etc. 
  • Provide monthly program reviews and updates at sprint reviews (deep dive into the current state of project goals, risks, escalations)
  • Create a collaborative environment that fosters creativity, innovation, and learning.
  • Be a thought leader within the organization, someone who can help advance our Product & Technology strategy globally and challenge others in the organization to change.

What you bring to Uplight:

  • 5-10 years of enterprise software/technical program or engineering management experience at an enterprise technology company.
  • 6+ years of solution management experience for infrastructure, software, or data services (SaaS experience).
  • MUST REQUIREMENT: 3+ years of successfully implementing and managing SaaS product development programs; a keen understanding of the SaaS business model and its product development lifecycle.
  • Ability to understand technical subjects and technologies relevant to the program.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and analysis skills.
  • Excellent presence and public speaking skills: your team(s) will rely on you to advocate and steer your project to success.  Occasional interaction with partners/customers is expected. Know how to build a story and deliver it.
  • Ability to work well as a member of a highly integrated team composed of both technical and non-technical members. You are able to weigh several and often conflicting constraints and make encourage/drive decisions in a fast-moving and quickly-growing company.
  • Comfortable bending between the tactical and strategic.
  • Ability to manage/juggle competing priorities without loss of efficiency.
  • An ability to develop relationships across the organization in support of efficient delivery of work.
  • Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle; ability to adjust and apply this knowledge in a dynamic environment using agile methodologies.
  • Outstanding organizational, communication, interpersonal, relationship-building skills conducive to collaboration; able to work well in a cross-functional, matrix management environment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a history of hands-on, detail orientation.
  • Ability to establish credibility and rapport with senior executives and technical and non-technical team members alike.
  • Ability to successfully collaborate with all functions across the entire company.
  • Experience with Portfolio Management.

Salary Range: $100,000 to $125,000 (dependent on experience)

Our Boulder office has plenty of nearby restaurants, bars and hotels for our visiting employees, as well as in office employees to enjoy. We have on-site parking, and when you enjoy a walk near the office - you can take in the views of the Beautiful Boulder FlatIron Mountains nearby - Enjoy!
