Overview of the position

Scaled Agile, Inc. is looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to join our growing technology team in our Boulder office.  This is an opportunity to get in on the ground level of a fun, growing development team doing cutting edge work with many current technologies.

What you’ll be doing:

As a part of the Information & Technology team, you will have a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining infrastructure for cloud applications and web properties which receive over 275,000 unique visitors per month.

This role requires regular collaboration with stakeholders and developers to create solutions for our platform, web properties, and supporting infrastructure.  

Key responsibilities include:

• Maintain and modernize existing services running on AWS including but not limited to EC2, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, CloudFormation, RDS, S3, etc.
• Work as part of the development team to own and maintain the production infrastructure - patches, backups, upgrades, AMI’s, and security
• Ensure infrastructure availability including participating in on-call, and share in off-hours maintenance work
• Collaborate with team members to incrementally improve our development and deployment practices
• Improve system operations and reliability by automating common tasks
• Research opportunities to utilize best practices, guidelines to improve system productivity, scaling, reliability and monitoring

Skills and experience that are important for the role:

• Minimum 3 years experience with AWS including: EC2, CloudFormation, CloudFront, Route 53, site monitoring, distributed web server architecture
• A strong desire to automate processes, build tooling, and create infrastructure-as-code solutions
• Ability to problem solve and work with others to find the best solution
• Advanced Linux administration experience in an enterprise environment
• Interest in learning new skills and keeping pace with changing technologies
• Working knowledge of modern developer tools including BitBucket, Jenkins, Jira
• Experience with continuous integration/continuous deployment
• Ability to work on a small team and collaborate with stakeholders
• Competency with other web technologies and programming languages
• Experience in Agile team practices
