Foresight Diagnostics, headquartered in Aurora, Colorado is a cancer diagnostics company developing a novel liquid biopsy test for the measurement of minimal residual disease (MRD) for aid in patient management. Our Series A round is funded by leading diagnostics VC firms in Silicon Valley. Foresight’s cell-free DNA testing platform was developed by two prominent professors at Stanford University and backed by several major Cell and Nature publications. The company has garnered significant partnering interest from multiple pharmaceutical companies in oncology and is poised for rapid growth. As the newest member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for automating our cancer diagnostic workflow –building the backend architecture, database, and tools for analyzing and reporting genetic results. You are a professional software engineer with extensive experience in database architecture, modern cloud infrastructure, and building backend services that satisfy business standards. You are meticulously organized, enjoy brainstorming with your team, and can articulate results to stakeholders. Here’s what needs to be done:

  • Architecting, building, and operating our cloud-based computing services and databases required to run bioinformatics pipelines at scale
  • Establishing the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) including deployments, CI/CD, automated test suites and pipeline versioning to enable us to scale
  • Collaborating with appropriate team members to build data pipelines and engineer the cloud platform for decision support – monitoring performance for improvements
  • Establishing our cloud infrastructure best practices, participating in design discussions, code reviews and mentoring team members
  • Working closely with quality/regulatory departments to ensure your work meets appropriate standards
  • Stretching yourself intellectually – challenging conventional thinking with your positive and curious mind

 

Show us:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and a passion for molecular biology or bioinformatics
  • At least 8 years of professional experience in database architecture and 3+ years designing modern cloud infrastructure as well as building backend services
  • A robust tool belt that includes Python, Kubernetes, Docker, Google Cloud platform, PostgreSQL - bonus points for Google Life Sciences and NGS tools experience
  • Experience writing SQL queries, making database migrations
  • Deep knowledge of git, RESTFUL APIs, and CI/CD within a microservices architecture
  • Confident communicator with an innate ability to listen actively, query insightfully and deliver information respectfully
  • Desire to mentor and coach, building your team as we grow
  • Humility, competency and curiosity - you know your stuff but enjoy brainstorming with others for the best outcome
