General Purpose

Overall responsibility for leading the day-to-day activities of the team of software engineers and administrators responsible for the SalesForce.com ecosystem of applications that serve internal and external customers at DHI. As the Development Manager, you will lead the technical direction and execution of the product roadmap working closely with the product management team, business stakeholders and the engineering team to deliver solutions that improve and automate existing processes, introduce new, innovative processes and provide eCommerce and support self service and self provisioning functionality to our customers.  This ecosystem of applications currently includes Salesforce’s Sales and Service platforms, Marketo, Incent, Zuora and interfaces to our front office brand websites such as Dice.com, eFinancialcareers.com etc. in addition to Great Plains and Enterprise Data Warehouse systems.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Deliver world-class software for DHI website brand customers as well as internal sales, finance, marketing and customer support users based on the Salesforce platform in an agile best practices process.
  • Stay hands on to be able to effectively code review, develop PoC’s vetting new approaches and provide day to day input and guidance on the strategic platform development efforts.
  • Guide members of the agile team, participate in all activities from planning to delivery.
  • Maintain an engaged team with enthusiasm, energy and focus. Provide overall and day-to-day technical leadership and mentoring of team members.
  • Oversee the software platform’s advancement, including day to day requests, long term projects, and strategy in close partnership with product management.
  • Serve as an expert on the Salesforce platform capabilities, architecture and functionality to the rest of the organization.
  • Work with Sr. Leadership to manage large vendor contracts and agreements for the SaaS platforms we utilize.
  • Work closely with other technology leaders and product management on inter-related application domains and features.
  • Operate in a fully transparent, data-driven manner with clearly defined agile and system performance metrics and dashboard.
  • Conduct employee performance management duties from touch point to evaluation. Contribute to a culture that values the balance of business objectives with team members’ individual career growth.
  • Drive continuous improvement in product, process, and culture.
  • Demonstrated ability as an effective architect, mentor and coach who understands how to successfully integrate and manage teams of talented developers.
  • Coordinate activities of staff to accomplish both systems and business objectives for specific projects.
  • Prepare the planning, design, development, and budgeting of system development projects, as required.

Job Qualifications

  • Required Knowledge, Skills and Attributes
  • Track record of managing and evolving medium to large Salesforce implementations with external and internal functionality.
  • 7 plus years Salesforce.com development including custom objects, Apex, Visualforce, Force.com, Triggers, Migration Tools, and Web Services.
  • Understanding and expertise of product catalog and pricing approaches, CPQ (Configure, Price, Quote), revenue recognition and eCommerce processes is required.
  • Experience with Sales and Service products as well as Salesforce Community Cloud
  • Experience with Marketo, Incent and Zuora is a plus
  • Experience with the full software development lifecycle.
  • Expertise in QA Automation and unit test automation
  • Expertise in continuous integration and continuous delivery environments
  • Understanding of enterprise web architectures, including SOA, MVC and messaging technologies.
  • Passion for delivering quality and useful products to market.
  • Outstanding leadership, communication, problem-solving and organization skills.
  • Excels at cross-functional collaboration, partnering with internal and external teams for optimal delivery.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with strong product and program management skills.
  • Comfortable with multi-tasking, resolving competing priorities and meeting project deadlines.

  • Demonstrated experience fostering innovation, creativity, and teamwork.
  • Exceptional management and people skills across geographically dispersed teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage personnel activities including: one on one meetings, monthly objectives, and performance reviews.
  • Detail oriented, with exemplary analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Understanding of Lean principles and continuous improvement techniques.
  • Experience in environments with diverse technology solutions a plus (especially Java, .Net).
  • Required Education and/or Experience
  • 10+ years in industry with a strong technical background, optimally in software product companies with extensive use and integration of Salesforce.
  • 4+ years of technical leadership and 2+ years of technical management with experience leading multiple teams.
  • 4+ years of experience developing systems using Agile development process (preferably Scrum).
  • Salesforce Architect (Dev 501) Certification is a plus.
  • BS in Computer Science/Computer Engineering/MIS, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
