Computer Vision Engineer

| Greater Boulder Area
Our mission is to give people robotic tools to impact change in the physical world. We believe the building block for this is spatial AI - the ability for a system to see, understand and learn about the physical world in order to act.
We are looking for sharp recent graduates with a passion for computer vision to be part of our team building the world’s most advanced autonomous systems. Our vision-based autonomous vehicles are supporting factories and warehouses across the country and are continually adapting to their highly dynamic environments.
You will get to work on the next set of ground-breaking features and technologies with an experienced team of roboticists who have worked on autonomous systems at places like Google, TRI, and Amazon.
In this role you will:
-
Design and development of robust, real-time SLAM algorithms.
- Develop high-quality software designs that allows for both high-performance and maintainable software.
- Live and breathe the software practices that produce maintainable code, including automated testing, continuous integration, code style conformity, and code review.
As a minimum you should be:
-
Experience in geometric computer vision / SLAM.
- Understanding of optimization, numerical linear algebra and probabilistic estimation.
- Proficient in C++ programming.
Ideal background:
-
BS or MS-candidate in Computer Science or related field.
- Experience with SLAM systems (monocular, stereo, visual-inertial or RGBD).
- Experience with CUDA programming.

Sandra McQueen

VP Marketing

What's the biggest problem your team is solving?

The type of autonomy that will dominate industry in the decades to come will be of a new kind: adaptive. It will work around its changing environment with ease. It will work seamlessly with people and it will be reconfigurable in minutes. It will do this through the power to see. Visual perception is the harder road, but it will be future proof.

Nima Keivan

CTO

What makes someone successful on your team?

We look for bright people with low ego and a talent for communication and collaboration.
We have witnessed world-class PhDs deferring to engineers just out of school because they came up with a great idea. We have given people with less experience enormous responsibility when they showed drive, good sense and the ability to bring people together.

Sandra McQueen

VP Marketing

What is your vision for the company?

We started CANVAS with the belief that autonomous technology would help transport resources more wisely, both human and material. We set out to create a system with excellent perception that could see well enough to find its way through the most complex indoor warehouses and factories, and also navigate outdoor roads and construction sites.

Jonathan McQueen

CEO

What’s the vibe like in the office?

Our culture is deeply rooted in learning and continuous improvement. It means that employees are voluntarily enrolling in classes, going to seminars, reading the latest papers on computer vision and machine learning, etc. In addition, we’ll sometimes hear how a developer has spent the weekend building something they were excited about.
