Position Summary
As a member of the Cloud Operations team, the Cloud Engineer will work alongside distributed Software Development, Security, Support, and Release Management teams to apply knowledge of web operations in Amazon Web Services for the betterment of Welltok’s platform infrastructure. The successful candidate will have managed Internet-facing services hosted in AWS, including the configuration, operation, automation, and continual improvement of underlying infrastructures.
Technologies you will work with include Amazon Web Services (AWS), Linux (mainly Ubuntu), Python (w/ Boto and Troposphere), Git, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes.
Responsibilities
- Operate AWS environments, including provisioning and operation of compute instances and AWS services, user management, security, and traffic management
- Automate the configuration, delivery, and operation of infrastructure systems and services
- Linux administration tasks (e.g., software install/patch/update, configuration, image management)
- Continually control cloud costs by reviewing deployed ecosystem, suggesting improvements and efficiencies
- Collaborate with software development and security teams to build, deliver, and manage solutions
- Configure and tune monitoring and logging systems
- Incident response with rotating on-call responsibility
Skills and Experience Required
- Experience in AWS infrastructure and operations, including EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM
- Experience managing Internet-facing web applications, including performance monitoring, tuning, networking, traffic management
- Experience with automated configuration management systems (we use Ansible, but experience in Puppet, Chef, Salt, AWS OpsWorks is also acceptable)
- Linux systems administration
- Automation of IT infrastructure using common scripting languages/frameworks
- Experience in the following will be considered a “plus”:
- Docker and Kubernetes management and operation
- Operation of web services built on Ruby on Rails, NodeJS, Java/Spring
- Windows Server administration
- Understanding of Agile delivery concepts, ITIL, and DevOps patterns
- Experience with Continuous Integration tools and understanding of Continuous Delivery concepts
- Prior employment in the healthcare industry
