Position Overview:

As Vendavo expands into new product and market segments, we are looking for a highly skilled Cloud Architect. You will be working closely with our Product Development, Cloud Services, Customer Engagement and Customer Support. You will be a key member of a team of highly skilled individuals that are passionate about delivering technology solutions to solve business and end-user needs. You will be part of the team that enables Vendavo to enter a new phase of growth!


As a Cloud Architect, you will:

  • Liaise with management, solution architects, solution engineers, developers and third-party solution providers to ensure the project meets the needs of the organization and our customers 
  • Create, improve and maintain automated systems for code compilation, testing, and deployment 
  • Provide non-production & production support and problem solving 
  • Manage virtual machines, IaaS in our Azure, AWS and Oracle Cloud Platforms 
  • Be highly focused on rapid deployment, automation and process improvement  
  • Setting up and maintaining mission-critical production environments 
  • Work closely with our Performance Engineering team to identify system and database performance bottlenecks and
  • provide tuning and design suggestions 
  • Work with customers through our support team to help identify system and database performance issues with our products and provide recommended solutions 
  • Perform in depth analysis of customer’s infrastructure and provide actionable performance improvement plans 
  • Consult on technical environment and hardware configuration decisions 
  • Develop techniques to improve system performance and optimize hardware utilization 
  • Improve system performance through implementing recommended hardware changes 
  • Improve software systems efficiency through implementing better utilization of operating system capabilities 
  • Assess risks and mitigation strategies within the architecture that has an impact on the business 
  • Monitor industry trends to ensure that solutions are in line with industry best practices 
  • Create documentation in compliance with standard operating procedures 
  • Manage project expectations, resources, and timelines  
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed to help manage the build and delivery of our software solutions 

  What you need to be successful in this role:

  • Extensive IT industry experience – working with enterprise customers in a customer facing role 
  • Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and clearly to all levels of management. 
  • Strong service attitude; builds lasting customer relationships, strives for efficiency and effectiveness 
  • Commitment to Quality Standards and continuous improvement. 
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced team-oriented environment 
  • Experience working with teams spread across various geographical locations 
  • Experience with Unix/Linux and Windows based environments 
  • Experience with scripting (Bash, Shell, Power Shell, etc.) 
  • Experience with Git 
  • Experience in automation (Chef, Ansible, Terraform) 
  • Experience with Configuring and building elaborate monitoring and log aggregation (ELK, Icinga, Nagios, Prometheus)
  • Experience with Containerisation - Kubernates 
  • Expertise in automation and continuous integration tools (Jenkins, Rundeck) 
  • Experience with Cloud technologies (cloud platforms) 
  • Database experience would be a bonus (MySql, Oracle, MSSQL) 
  • Personal accountability and strong communication skills 
  • Strong desire to acquire and master new skills 
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP network and experience of setting up network equipment such as switches, routers and firewalls 
  • Knowledge of best practices and IT operations to support an always-up, always-available service
