Position Details:

We are hiring for a highly technical Cloud Architect to help support and evolve our cloud computing platform for Ascendon (a SaaS Cloud-based platform that we built)  The Cloud Architect will work as part of a highly technical team of professionals who are responsible for all architectural design, development and deployment of cost effective and sustainable infrastructures to meet business requirements. The Cloud Architect is also responsible to collaborate in cross-functional design and planning activities to ensure applications and services security, compliance, availability, and operational requirements are identified and supported.

The position is responsible for understanding security standards and best practices, keeping current with trends and emerging technologies, and providing guidance and direction to the various development and business groups on standards that drive down risk and drive up quality and performance.

 

Job Description

To ensure the success of our applications and the customers they serve, the AWS Architect will . . .

  • Build strong relationships with the application development and infrastructure teams – specifically with technical team members – to develop shared vision and execution for AWS standards and management.
  • Partner with the application and infrastructure teams to analyze complex environments; design and communicate elegant and pragmatic architecture(s).
  • Collaborate with internal teams around technical task identification along with work estimates and skills required to assist project managers with task scheduling and resource requests.
  • Ensure technical viability of architecture design.
  • Provide technical leadership to the implementations team through the design, build, test, and delivery lifecycle.
  • Coach and mentor team members to increase their understanding of and place within overall enterprise architecture design.
  • Provide feedback to CSG Enterprise Architecture Review Board around industry trends, potential architecture improvements, application and customer business trends and customer’s enterprise architecture vision.

  • Passion for delighting the customer with aptitude, innovation, thoroughness and high quality deliverables.
  • 10+ years architecture development and/or implementation experience in Public Cloud Architectures.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Telecommunications or the equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for understanding complex problems, organizing data, and formulating solution strategies.
  • Passion for elegant technology architecture for large enterprise architecture problems in Public Cloud.
  • Polished communication skills, broad technical knowledge and high self-confidence.
  • Proven ability to drive analysis, design and communication of robust solutions and build solution consensus among teams, technology partners, implementation partners and business users.
  • Solid expertise and/or demonstrated ability to architect and implement application and infrastructure integration technologies.
  • Experience formulating solutions and effectively presenting findings, either one-on-one or in a group setting.
  • Excellent listening, critical thinking, and problem solving skills.
  • Experience in at least one programming or scripting language (Java, Python, C#, Ruby, etc.)

 

You might also have some other specific experience, but it’s ok if you are willing to learn…

  • Experience with application metrics and monitoring platforms (AppDynamics, Dynatrace)
  • Experience with emerging cloud-scale monitoring platforms (DataDog, OpsGenie, BigPanda)
  • Experience with O/S monitoring tools (Zabbix, SCOM)
  • Experience with large scale data collection and visualization using ELK stack, Kafka and Grafana
  • Experience with CI/CD pipeline automation using Chef/Puppet & Jenkins
