Backend Engineer (remote)
NakedPoppy is redefining the way women shop for beauty products online. We help women find their perfect, clean, toxin-free makeup through an intelligent and personalized end-to-end purchase experience driven by data and our recommendation engine. This vision extends into the core business operations where data will drive our intelligent inventory management system, customer replenishment experience, and even ingredient screening.
At NakedPoppy, you’ll work on a close-knit team with our data science team, our product manager, and your front-end colleague to build a personalized shopping experience for shopping for clean beauty. From continuing to build out and support a scalable production infrastructure to implementing delightful customer experiences, your work will impact women who are looking to make better choices about their beauty products. We hope to continue building out our product and engineering team in Denver / Boulder!
What you’ll do:
- Develop and maintain the services that power our web application and recommendation API
- Help get new services into production, ensure effective monitoring and alerting, and help us grow our infrastructure platform to accommodate the demands of a growing customer base
- Define and maintain development practices that let us move fast with quality
- Work with a wide range of tools and technologies and be able to evaluate technologies for what we are building
- Help us determine priorities by estimating the potential impact of projects
What we look for:
- You have built and shipped services that support Web Applications and/or APIs
- Aptitude with several programming languages. We are open to hiring people with backgrounds in any languages.
- Basic AWS knowledge is highly desired (services deployed on elastic beanstalk). Basic SQL (Postrgres) is desired (Currently using RDS on RDS)
- Ability to troubleshoot and get to root cause diagnosis fast
- Demonstrated experience working autonomously and communicating effectively
- Familiarity with data science / recommendation algorithms preferred, but not required
- Basic understanding of DNS routing and HTTPS/TLS certificate usage desired
