Position Summary/Objective:

The Application Architect plays an important role in the analysis, design and implementation of software solutions that support the Elevations CU strategic goals.  They are accountable for establishing and maintaining an application technology roadmap and establishing software engineering practices to ensure software solutions are secure, efficient and meet business needs.  The application architect also provides coaching, mentoring and oversight for application development teams and their deliverables.

 

Essential Functions include:

  • Accountable for Enterprise Business Application architecture, design and strategic roadmaps. 
  • Leads research to create and maintain a current application architecture roadmap that supports the organization’s long term strategy. 
  • Fosters business partnership with IT, understands business processes and advices stakeholders on strategic direction of application architecture in support of business goals.
  • Works with external vendors for integrated solutions and stays current with vendor strategic roadmaps to influence the health and currency of our application architecture.
  • Advise organizational stakeholders on potential risks and opportunities to influence support for application technology strategies and security controls.
  • Defines, documents, implements, and enforces engineering best practices for application design, development, version control, code migration, implementation, and application support.
  • Ensure seamless integration of new and existing applications to drive efficiencies and maintain data security and integrity.
  • Works with development staff and scrum teams to ensure solutions being delivered are in line with overall technology roadmap and strategy.
  • Develop system diagrams and other technical documentation to provide a 360 view of all technical application relationships and integrations.  Develop an application heat map to help drive planning for end of life solutions.
  • Train and mentor development staff on creating effective documentation to improve Application Development knowledge base library and software engineering best practices.
  • Review and sign off authority on software development design/implementation documentation.
  • Work with IT leaders to evaluate skills, bandwidth and priorities for programming team demands.
  • Work with PMO and business stakeholders on recommendations for the technology investment needed to support the enterprise strategy and influence project portfolio roadmaps.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Provide technical communication and content tailored to various audiences to influence understanding at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrate learning agility and experience implementing ITIL best practices and processes.

This role does not have direct reports.

 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems.
  • Four to seven years of experience in application architecture or related experience.
  • Technical writing skills to include developing systems architecture diagrams, process flows, and other relevant technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to foster positive business relationships and a culture of collaboration and engineering best practices.
  • Able to initiate action, mentor and motivate others.
  • Experience delivering strategic software solutions within an agile environment.
  • Proven knowledge of architecture strategies, systems development methodologies, and IT processes

 

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Experience with Financial Institution technologies.
  • Off the shelf application configuration and integration experience.
  • Experience bringing emerging technology trends to the organization; educates and informs colleagues. 
  • Digital solutions implementation to include on line banking and mobile development.
  • Experience with the following technologies:  
    • Symitar Episys Core System, Synapsys, Synergy, ImageCenter, MeridianLink, Encompass, Consumer Lending Origination systems, Mortgage Origination systems, Online banking solutions, SQL relational databases,

 

Work Environment:

This job operates in an office setting and routinely uses standard office equipment

 

Physical Requirements:

Sitting frequently, walking occasionally, use of hands frequently, hearing constantly, talking frequently, exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
