We're seeking a flexible and action-oriented systems engineer to support efforts across the entire program lifecycle including concept development, design, requirement development, implementation, integration, launch, commissioning, operations, and maintenance. This position is for an experienced systems engineer who can support the requirement baseline, development, integration and verification for subsystems, payloads, vehicles, and ground systems, for air and space missions.
The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers' missions. What You'll Do:
- Provide systems engineering leadership in the development, verification, delivery, and operations of Missions, Segments, Elements, and Subsystems.
- Support the proper allocation, traceability, and verification of requirements at all levels through the lifecycle of the program.
- Interact with multiple subject matter experts to develop the required allocation analysis and verification artifacts.
- Interface with and support the program's lead system engineer, chief engineer and customer.
- Support expectations, preparations, and delivery for major gate reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, PSR).
- Coordinate requirements verification with I&T activities.
- Use Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) for architecture to requirements traceability and interface development.
- Mentor other system engineers assigned to the team.
- Support the program Risk & Opportunity Management and ERB processes.
- Prepare and give presentations to peers, management, and customers.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
- May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
- May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 8 or more years related experience.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- A current, active TS/SCI security clearance is required.
- Experience using requirements database tools (DOORS, Jama, Cameo Requirements Modeler, e.g.).
- Experience with Cameo Enterprise Architecture, SysML and DoDAF/UAF/UPDM.
- Demonstrated ability to review effective and verifiable requirements - detail oriented.
- Demonstrated experience in systems engineering processes, including requirements development, requirement allocation, change management, verification and validation - a self-starter that will own this activity.
- Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary teams including meeting schedule and performance goals.
- Customer Relationships: extensive knowledge of missions and customers across core technologies areas. Knowledge/experience working with critical customer base, established relationships with key personnel within customer community.
- Good presentation skills with experience to senior decision making and technical audiences.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Related experience in either mission operations, mission systems, spacecraft systems, ground systems or payloads.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $126610.000 - $215270.000
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
