Position Title

User Experience Lead

Position Summary

KG Lewis is seeking a temporary, project-based talented User Experience Lead. The ideal candidate should have an eye for clean and artful design, possess superior UI/UX skills, and be able to translate high-level requirements into pleasing, user-friendly, intuitive, consistent, and functional user interfaces. This is a temporary project-based role that may require some short-term travel. This is an ideal role for a candidate who is established as an independent User Experience Lead with experience interfacing with clients.

Responsibilities

  • Shadow and interview users to understand their pain points and needs
  • Be the advocate of the users
  • Craft journey maps of the user experience (consistency, # of clicks, conformity of field names, response times of screens, record level of happiness, etc.) across process design and from the results of testing of the new applications during the sprints
  • Advocate for the users while partnering with the development/integration teams to achieve consistency based on the journey maps
  • Work with the change lead, process design lead and trainer to inject user experience consistency into deliverables
  • Collaborate with engineering to implement solutions for the UI/UX design and experience
  • Execute all visual design stages from concept to final hand-off to engineering
  • Conceptualize ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex design roadblocks
  • Effectively communicate interaction and design ideas
  • Present and defend designs and key milestone deliverables to peers and executive level stakeholders
  • Partner with team members to conduct user research and evaluate user feedback
  • Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices and standards

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven UI/UX experience
  • Strong user research experience
  • Demonstrable design skills with a strong portfolio
  • Solid experience in creating wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps
  • Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, OmniGraffle, or other visual design and wire-framing tools
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for rapid prototyping
  • Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction
  • Ability to work with all levels of the organization, from billing and payroll to schedulers, field staff, corporate employees, HR, IT, Finance, dev, etc.
  • Ability to present designs and sell solutions to various stakeholders
  • Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively
  • Up-to-date with the latest UI trends, techniques, and technologies
  • BS/MS in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, or related
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process
  • Consulting or client project-based work experience preferred
  • Healthcare industry experience preferred
  • Must be detail-oriented, highly organized, and a self-starter
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Professional and poised appearance and demeanor
  • Ability to travel for brief periods of time
  • Ability to carry a flexible workload – this position may have part-time weeks and full-time weeks
