Job Title: User Experience Lead

Job Location: Denver

The Role:
StackHawk’s Product and Engineering team is seeking an experienced UI/UX professional to lead the user experience and product design for the StackHawk offering. In this role, you will work with StackHawk leadership and engineering, and engage in user-centric design to bring the StackHawk offering to life. You’ll be a key member of a small, growing team that will revolutionize application security by reducing complexity, providing actionable recommendations, and empowering software engineers to take control of their application security. This early position will be instrumental in shaping product and engineering culture and promoting StackHawk’s goal of identifying and remediating app vulnerabilities in the CI/CD pipeline. You’ll be instrumental in making design, user experience and process decisions. If you enjoy the challenge of designing and creating a product from the ground up, this is the role for you.

What You’ll Do:

  • User Research: Lead customer development interviews to inform customer-centric, highly iterative design. Through research and conversation, develop a deep understanding of our customer, and use this to drive product design. StackHawk is built for developers and deeply understanding their workflows, processes, drivers, and concerns is integral to product design.

  • Design Process: Own the design process, including determining appropriate feature implementation, wireframe designs, customer feedback, interaction specs, and mocks for new features. Obsess over the optimal user journey and lead regular wireframing and iteration.

  • Internal Collaboration: Drive a culture of cross-functional collaboration to ensure that UX and design are baked into the company. This includes heavy engineering collaboration to design feasible solutions, as well as collaborating with other internal functions.

About You:

  • 5+ years experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, information architect or similar role in a SaaS or technology company

  • User obsessed - always seeking to understand the user, including their needs, workflows, emotions, and more, and making this the cornerstone of all design work

  • Experience with a variety of user research tools and methods, including usability testing both in-person and virtually

  • Balance the desire for a perfect solution with the need to ship deliverables on a fast-paced schedule

  • Experience building user personas/jobs to be done

  • Experience leading group design discussions and documenting the results

  • Experience whiteboarding design ideas and translating these designs into a wireframe or prototype with tools like Sketch or InVision

  • Track record of shipping great SaaS application user experiences

  • Experience pitching, defending, and explaining the why behind UX decisions to engineers, product owners and executives

  • Ability to build and maintain style guide and brand assets, including working with marketing and other areas of the business to build consistency in brand and assets across the company

  • You know when you’re past the fun part of a project and it’s time to power through the rest

The Goods:

  • Competitive Compensation: Earn a competitive salary and get an equity stake in the company that we are building together. Phone reimbursement, paid parking, and commuter benefits included.

  • Solid Benefits: Health, dental, and vision insurance 100% paid for employees and dependents. Other benefits include life insurance, AD&D, and 401K.

  • Time to Recharge Encouraged: Take what you need vacation plus ten paid holidays! Unplug, recharge, and come back refreshed.

  • Fun Team and Perks: We do great work and have fun doing it! Our office comes equipped with hardware of your choice, daily breakfast and snacks, coffee, happy hours, on-site gym, and a fun team to collaborate with.

  • Place Where Your Work Matters and You Grow: As a seed stage company, your work shapes the product that we are building. Nothing beats arriving at work every day knowing that your work deeply matters, and there is no better opportunity to grow in your career.
