Our UXLs must have the ability to architect front-end design solutions by mapping business, technical,  and user requirements into extensible and usable information architectures. As a UXL, you must have proven experience managing projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing multi-phase/multi-dimensional/multi-resource projects to their conclusion while maintaining high customer satisfaction. The role requires an individual who is resourceful, confident under pressure and has demonstrated skill in both crisis management and expectation management.  You should have the ability to engage in effective dialog with senior-level technology decision makers, with a focus on optimizing business agility, value, and innovative User Experience design.

User experience leadership will be your primary role, however, you will be expected to participate in the team leveraging your skills in one or more of the areas of UX discipline including:

  • User Research
  • Information Architecture
  • Interaction Design
  • Visual/UI Design
  • UI Development
  • Content Strategy

You’ll be a player and a coach – actively designing the user experience of our products and leading others to achieve the best result.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Be passionate about creating elegant, smart, and intuitive designs for web, desktop, and mobile applications
  • Work with a team of UXers to deliver innovative, delightful user experiences that meets stakeholder, user and project management expectations
  • Communicate design strategy to project management, clients, developers and other team members and be able to articulate creative rationale to clients and team members
  • Ensure your team is following both Limina and industry best practices and applying a variety of design methods
  • Facilitate client workshops and discussions on all aspects of user experience including stakeholder requirements, user research and analysis, interaction modeling, task workflow modeling, branding, visual design, and overall user experience
  • Educate on design innovation and best practice while building consensus and buy-in from stakeholders
  • Develop presentations, storyboards, and client feedback mechanisms to communicate design process
  • Collaborate across functional groups and across design teams early and often
  • Work closely with the client as well as often working hand-in-hand with the Technical Team Lead and or the Solutions Architect
  • Create an environment that values professional growth, rewards results, and inspires creativity and elegant problem solving
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and allocate resources as required
  • Manage design deliverables with Agile project management techniques
  • Foster executive level relationships
  • Provide quality assurance of UX deliverables
  • Manage 3rd party vendors involved in delivering the user experience (recruiting agencies, etc)
  • Lead internal brainstorms, ideation, and continuing education sessions.
  • 8+ years of design experience working across multiple industries and verticals
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree preferably in a related discipline: User Experience Design, Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Interactive Media, Cognitive Science, or Information Management with a specialty in User Interface Design or equivalent

 

CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Demonstrated experience in user interface design principles and the user-centered design process, including user research techniques, both in creating designs and explaining/defending designs to the product team
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize real user feedback into designs
  • Create  requirements documentation including but not limited to brand, user journeys, user segmentation and task analysis, creative briefs, mood boards, information architecture, workflows, wireframes, visual concepts, and UX mockups
  • Lead rapid prototyping, execute the design of complex transactional interfaces and define system taxonomy
  • Solve complex problems with innovative solutions that show a deep understanding of digital trends and emerging technologies
  • Synthesize innovative yet practical solutions by combining our clients’ requirements with user-centered best practices
  • Designing user interfaces within technical and business constraints, while leveraging and maximizing features
  • Keeping current UI/UX trends and user-centered design best practices and ability to apply that knowledge to meet project needs
  • Experience designing for touch interfaces and responsive screens
  • Able to collaborate with teammates to conduct user research and/or usability studies at various stages of the project lifecycle
  • Working knowledge of desktop, web and mobile design and engineering best practices and trends (including content management systems, mobile platforms, HTML5, CSS3, JQuery, Angular, etc.) and the ability to apply that knowledge to meet project needs
  • Actively engage with and participate in the greater design community
  • Remain current on technology advancements and integrate them into the design direction
  • Demonstrate capability to mentor and manage junior resources
  • Manage user experience teams including defining detailed project plans including tasks, timelines, milestones and resource requirements needed to successfully complete projects
    • Build detailed project estimates and own project delivery and budget
    • Actively drive project status reporting
    • Track project deliverables and milestones using appropriate tools
    • Provide frequent and effective communication to the project team and leadership
    • Support and direct project teams
    • Anticipate, identify, and manage risks. Identify and develop contingency and management actions and plans. Communicate effectively to contain risk
  • Contributing to the growth of the business through participating in business development, sales, and marketing activities

 

TECHNICAL AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERTISE

  • At least 3 years experience in leading teams
  • At least 5 years experience as a user experience designer, information architect or researcher
  • At least 5 years of experience in a customer-facing role
  • Skilled with the UI prototyping tools, libraries, presentation, and management practices (ex. Sketch, InvisionApp, XD, Axure, Abstract)
  • Proficient in Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)/ Google G-Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
  • Experience designing for Drupal and/or SharePoint
  • Experience working with JIRA a plus

  • Excellent communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills including techniques to persuade and negotiate and the ability to articulate alternative approaches
  • Consulting with clients and internal teams to establish strategic, measurable objectives for projects
  • Leading internal and client-facing presentations and facilitating consensus
  • Setting and meeting internal and client facing expectations on time with high-quality deliverables
  • Educating staff and clients on matters related to user-centered design
  • Strong interpersonal communications with teams and clients
  • Demonstrated storytelling and presentation skills
  • Creative, outside-the-box thinking; quality is a must!
  • Capable of leading work independently or as part of a team
  • Comfortable working with both waterfall and agile software development processes
  • Expected to travel occasionally for business purposes

 

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

  • Understands the business and technical implications of their designs
  • Can clearly articulate how their designs map to the business problem/solution, end users’ needs, and technical limitation/capability
  • Has a strong grasp of design patterns and can quickly customize and apply them to a given solution
  • Is analytical and creative with excellent organizational skills
  • Is able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively  
  • Is comfortable in a fast-paced environment, working on multiple projects simultaneously without errors
  • Understands big picture and detailed design implications (business/technical) of design direction
  • Expected to work closely with the Project Manager, Limina Staff, and client teams drawing on their input to articulate the user experience and ensure the design meets the client’s UX, accessibility, and usability goals
  • Is comfortable with working overtime as client commitment requires
  • Has authorization to work in the US
  • A strong portfolio of work that shows your UX and visual design process and solutions
