UI/UX Designer

Denver, CO

At Name.com, Colorado’s premier Domain Name, Email, Hosting, and web services provider, we value collaboration, respect, accountability, transparency, and humor. We’re looking for a UI/UX Designer to help us achieve our vision of becoming the most recommended provider of online presence solutions.

Founded in 2003 and now part of Donuts Inc, Name.com is made up of roughly 40 people. Prior to Covid, most of us (aside from our contingent of Dublin Customer Support specialists) were housed in our downtown Denver office near the Denver Convention Center. We are ever hopeful that things will become safer and we will be able to return to our beloved office. In the meantime, we are making the most of working remotely and the online tools we have at our disposal.

We are seeking a UI/UX designer with a proven track record of designing high quality and modern e-commerce experiences. As our designer you will take ownership of ethnographic research and translate the findings into sitemaps, user flows, customer journey maps, mockups, and prototypes. You will help design the overall functionality of the website, and continuously iterate to ensure the best user experience. Additionally, you will be responsible for leading the design process and executing it all with exceptional visual design. Cross-functionally, you’ll have opportunities to work closely with every team, including Engineering, Product, Operations, Customer Solutions, and Marketing.

What you bring to the table:

  • 3+ years as a UI/UX designer (BS/BA in Design, Computer Science, Engineering or related field a plus)

  • Proficiency in graphic design with a good eye for high quality and modern web design

  • Experience with e-commerce web design

  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit that can own projects end-to-end with little direction and can work well with ambiguity

  • Excellent at user research and translating findings into visual concepts

  • Designing and delivering wireframes, user journeys, and mockups for a variety of use cases and persona types

  • Following a user-centric design approach and rapidly testing and iterating to find the best user experience

  • Improving the user experiences centered around core business metrics

  • A vision and passion for how to visually own and evolve our brand to stay modern, relevant, and functional for our customer base.

  • Understanding and experience with modern design tools (e.g. Figma, Adobe Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, Component Libraries)

  • Technical web design experience

    • HTML, HTML5, CSS

    • Responsive web design

    • Animation

  • Domain registrar knowledge and experience is a plus, but not required

  • Prepared to complete a short design challenge as part of the interview process

Salary Range: $80k-$110k based on experience

What’s it like to work in the Name.com Product Team?

  • As a product team, we work closely with all the different teams across the company: marketing, engineering, operations, customer support. However, since our engineering team follows Scrum with 2 week sprints, we typically align our priorities and workload to work within the sprint structure. Design typically operates outside this structure, while still supporting and delivering the necessary resources to keep the development team on track with ongoing projects.

  • Working on a small team allows our members to have autonomy over their work. Designers at Name.com have the freedom to shape and evolve customer experience. When there is ambiguity we take initiative to define requirements and deliver on our goals, utilizing user research, competitive analysis, and iterative design practices.

  • As our designer you will also have the opportunity to help define our design practices and use the best tools to use to accomplish your job. We will provide you with a MacBook Pro and work with you to make sure you are comfortable and have what you need in your work environment (Post Its and Sharpies of course!).
