Overview:Alteryx, Inc. is looking for a talented Senior User Experience/User Interface Designer to join our UX/UI Design Team. The Senior UX/UI Designer will report to the UX/UI Design Manager. Senior UX/UI Designers should exhibit mastery of core skills, such as user experience research, project/feature requirements synthesis, design conceptualization, wire framing, visual design, and experience audits. They should also have strong expertise in production tools to execute on their concepts and designs. They need to exhibit a strong acumen in both UX/UI design and execution of identified business goals and metrics.
The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of the application design life cycle within an Agile environment. Experience with complex enterprise software and windows applications is a plus.

What you will be doing:

  • Developing task flows, user journeys, and affinity maps to help inform requirements
  • Designing technical low fidelity and high fidelity wire frames, interactive prototypes, and visual design mock-ups that translate business needs and user stories into intuitive and engaging experiences
  • Driving the user experience of products from feature conception all the way through acceptance with development
  • Collaborating with product managers and developers to estimate scope, adjust priorities, guide and implement designs
  • Participating in product ideation and conceptual development 
  • Integrating corporate branding and develop style guides that provide consistent interfaces for existing and new products
  • Contributing at both a team and organizational level by interfacing, building relationships, and working with other teams including product management, engineering/development, and quality assurance
  • Mentoring teammates to help raise the team's strengths in all areas, including design best practices, product domain knowledge, and process strategies
  • Taking responsibility for all aspects of software interface design including audience and task analysis, market analysis, scenario building, story boarding, prototyping, and defining interface specifications, guidelines, and standards
  • Creating visual designs to effectively communicate product function and brand identity, including the design and production of screen layouts, color palettes, typography, user interface elements, and icons
  • Contributing to user-centered design process by leading field observations and interviews, surveys, focus groups, exploratory studies and task analyses to continually search for improvement to the user experience
  • Traveling up to once per quarter to meet with customers

 What we are looking for in you:

  • BS/BA Degree in related field or equivalent work experience
  • 8+ years’ experience in UX/UI design, interaction design, or other related disciplines – sophisticated & refined UI design skills required
  • Minimum of 8 years with appropriate tools including Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Invision, etc., as well as the entire Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience designing Windows desktop, enterprise, SaaS, and web products
  • Demonstrable experience driving projects from conception to execution
  • Ability to balance requirements for our new users and learnability of our products without hampering expert users who make full use of advanced functionality
  • Understanding of user-centered design principles and best practices
  • Demonstrable history of working with product management and engineering teams to deliver projects
  • Portfolio demonstrating interaction and visual interface design skills
  • Proficient in user testing methodologies and best practices
  • Decision-making skills and ability to recommend technical data-driven solutions demonstrated frequently, with accuracy and with little guidance
  • Experience conducting UX-related research, including stakeholder and user interviews preferred
  • Strong UX strategy, user research and user personas experience
  • Comfortable in a fast-pace environment, working across multiple teams & projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of capabilities and limitations of Web technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, Flash, and CSS is a plus
  • Familiarity with databases and/or big data is a plus.
