The User Experience team at Alteryx is a group of highly-motivated, creative problem solvers dedicated to the creation of exceptional user experiences. Alteryx is actively looking for a Senior User Experience (UX) Researcher to join our growing team in Broomfield, CO. Operating within the Product Management organization, this individual will exhibit leadership in providing the most impactful, meaningful research to drive the design and development of next-generation analytical software. This role will report directly to the UX Research Manager.

As an important driver for the UX team, the ideal candidate will effectively facilitate the discovery, articulation, and application of data-driven recommendations across our entire product platform. The role requires strong problem solving skills, independent self-direction, and an aptitude for team collaboration and open communication. You should have experience in fast-paced, innovative environments and be comfortable with ambiguity. A solid background and understanding of industry-standard research methods (both qualitative and quantitative), user-centered design principles, and UX research best-practices is a must.

 

Position Details

  • Plan and execute hypothesis-driven research throughout our product design and development lifecycle, from early strategic direction through post-release validation

  • Help define and create an approach for expanding the use of research-oriented solutions across the entire Product organization

  • Utilize a top-down approach to addressing research needs of the organization while creating strategic alignment between corporate goals, team initiatives, and individual projects

  • Be the driver on several important projects simultaneously while meeting and maintaining reasonable timelines

  • Quickly establish the domain and tribal knowledge necessary to ensure impactful data-driven recommendations

  • Deliver research findings to relevant stakeholders using effective story-telling that is both captivating and informative

  • Evangelize the importance of implementing research recommendations into product releases and effectively follow up with stakeholders accordingly

  • Cohesively bridge the gap between the how, what, and why of user interactions in a manner that instills confidence and intrigue

 

Qualifications

  • Approximately 5 years of relevant experience conducting industry-level, mix-methods UX research

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in a social science, human-computer interaction, design, or related field

  • Very proficient in experimental design, research methodology, and statistical analysis

  • Proven track record of conducting high-impact UX research that has directly influenced the direction of several products or features

  • Can easily and effectively identify the strengths and weaknesses of certain research methods and use this to determine the most appropriate data-collection strategy

  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills that promote idea sharing, knowledge transfer, and innovative solutions

  • Experience working in lean, agile, software environments - preferably in web-based domains

  • Nice to have: Relevant experience or field knowledge of data science, analytics, machine learning, or neural networking

  • Huge plus: Proficiency in using behavioral analytics and data visualization platforms (e.g., Amplitude, Mixpanel, Pendo, Google Analytics, Tableau, Data-driven Documents (d3))
