The designer in this role works collaboratively with our product managers and software engineering teams to deliver a delightful and highly functional experience for our users. The role serves as an advocate for users to ensure a positive experience and is responsible for conducting user research and designing a user experience - visualization, interactions, tasks, navigation, and flow - that is usable and productive. Tactically, this means conducting testing throughout the product development process (concept, validation, usability, etc.), wireframing, prototyping, creating, and maintaining our design system, and reinforcing the overall design principles of our applications. Successful candidates will share a passion for delivering a market-leading, web-based solution used to transform customer experiences. The individual who fills this role has a unique opportunity to shape the future design of our product. Autonomy and initiative will be critical, as will the ability to prioritize and get things accomplished in a fast-moving environment.   • Driving forward a design-led process, e.g. problem definition, ideation, conducting workshops, etc. in collaboration with our product managers and software engineering teams to deliver a delightful and highly functional experience for our users.
  • Conducting user research and usability testing including crafting and leading collaborative workshops to elicit input and direction, guide the conversation, and actively engage participants, working visually in real-time to express concepts and facilitate discussion.
  • Working closely with clients, users, and team members to create comprehensive user journeys with compelling and cohesive user interface designs, as well as unified deliverables that adeptly tell the design story relative to the target audience.
  • Providing design leadership and guidance to the cross-functional team
  • Developing and documenting effective interaction design.
  • Creating and maintaining front end standards.
  • Developing prototypes, wireframes, and other graphical and technical expressions.
  • Writing software requirements and user stories.
  • Advocating for user empathy by deeply understanding users' needs and attitudes.

  • Organized, highly motivated individual with excellent project management and presentation skills
  • Ability to quickly learn, understand, and work with new emerging technologies, methodologies, and solutions in the technology space.
  • Creation of low- and high-fidelity prototypes and knowledge of relevant software tools (such as Axure, InVision, Sketch, Balsamiq, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.)
  • Clear and effective communication skills both oral and written.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong prioritization skills.
  • Travel Requirements 20% when it is deemed safe to do so.

Required Education, Certifications, and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Design or relevant discipline.
  • Experience creating user personas, defining information architecture, requirement gathering and acceptance criteria.
  • Experience working with Agile and how design engages with Agile development teams.
  • Expertise in the use of typography, layout, and color in visual communication.
  • Experience creating low- and high-fidelity prototypes.
  • Experience working cross-functionally.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and a strong desire to move projects forward and be proactive.
  • 3+ years of experience with human-centered design techniques: observation, research, ideation, rapid prototyping and iteration and the design process.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with visual design as it pertains to user interface design, including typography, hierarchy, and grid systems
  • Familiarity with standards-based HTML/CSS/JavaScript development. You will not be required to write code in this role, however a solid understanding of frontend technologies is required.

  • You're comfortable working independently yet prefer working in interdisciplinary teams to solve complex problems, and have demonstrated experience partnering across teams to deliver high quality work
  • Familiarity with standards-based HTML/CSS/JavaScript development. Direct coding will not be a responsibility; however, a solid understanding of frontend technologies is important.
  • Familiarity with visual design as it pertains to user interface design, including typography, hierarchy, and grid systems
  • Experience driving user engagement metrics with through thoughtful UX/UI decisions
  • Familiarity with common analytics and BI tools; experience with data visualization

Estimated Salary range for this position: $90,825 - $127,050The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the GHX's salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. The base salary is one component of GHX's total compensation package for employees.
