Summary

Maxar Technologies is seeking a creative, enthusiastic, and motivated Geospatial Interactive Data-visualization Developer to join the Corporate Marketing team. We’re seeking a jack-of-all-trades capable of tackling all aspects of interactive geospatial data-visualization design and development using current best-practices. The ideal person for this position is passionate about satellite imagery, geospatial data, and the stories, information, and answers that can be extracted from them. A strong working knowledge of the wide variety of GIS tools available, manipulation of satellite imagery, import and integration of geospatial data sources, and use of web-based map tiling services like MapBox to create clear and compelling marketing collateral is a must. Basic design and coding skills along with a general familiarity with Adobe CC products is a plus. This team member should be comfortable in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, loves pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, is an excellent problem solver, and is forward-thinking and adaptable to changing technologies.

Responsibilities

  •  Develop interactive, storytelling “slippy” maps using tiled imagery, data layers, “ground truth” imagery, and copy utilizing MapBox, HTML, and Leaflet
  • Create multisource static graphics utilizing both imagery and data to support marketing collateral
  • Provide overall imagery support for creative services – ordering, tasking, processing
  • Provide design and printing support for internal and external customer requests

Preferred Requirements

  •  Ability to strategically understand and create clear and compelling interactive and static visualizations of complex geospatial data concepts – make the complex simple
  • Ability to utilize DigitalGlobe processes to research, order or task satellite imagery
  • Ability to process DigitalGlobe satellite imagery for marketing purposes
  • Ability to research and acquire DigitalGlobe and third-party geospatial data layers
  • Ability to process DigitalGlobe and third-party geospatial data layers for marketing purposes

Basic Requirements

  •  Proficiency with geospatial visualization tools such as ArcGIS and QGIS
  •  Proficiency with map tiling applications such as MapBox and CartoDB
  • Some proficiency in coding for web – HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, Leaflet
  • Understanding of basic web concepts – responsive design, etc.
  • Proficiency in the use of relevant Adobe CC tools – Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign etc.
