Senior UX/UI Designer
Rachio is a leader in smart home/Internet of Things (IoT) technology based in downtown Denver. We are seeking a Senior UX/UI designer to join our product team.
Our product marries hardware, software (including native mobile apps and a web app), and the real world (including weather and evapotranspiration data); your job is to simplify these complexities for our users to create beautiful, enjoyable, and even educational experiences in our users’ “smart yard.”
Responsibilities
Help lead in creating consistent, branded, high-quality experiences across Android, iOS, and web
Partner with our in-house creative director to create a visual/design language that can be employed across platforms and scales to multiple products (not just sprinkler controllers)
Partner with our in-house UX researchers to develop deep empathy for our users, understand key use cases/user stories, and always design with the user’s goals and challenges in mind
Partner with our engineers to understand technical constraints and possibilities, and work closely with engineering to implement live code as early as possible
Create mobile-first/responsive designs from project start to finish, including diagramming user flows, creating wireframes and creating high-fidelity clickable prototypes, and delivering pixel-perfect dev ready designs
Communicate effectively with all parts of our organization, especially product management, engineering, and UX research/consumer insights; pitch designs and concepts to stakeholders
Apply your extensive experience in UX design best practices/patterns to design solutions while educating and building capacity within the UX and product teams
Qualifications
Proficient in Sketch, Invision, Adobe Creative Suite and/or other programs
Able to deliver final design comps and work closely with engineers to implement
Excellent understanding of Apple’s Human Interaction Guidelines (HIG) and Google Material Design guidelines
Strategic understanding of user-centered design and testing methodologies, subsystems, and usability and accessibility concerns
Excellent visual design skills and proven track record of creating and implementing design libraries
Experience working within an Agile development process
BS in human interaction design, graphic design, or similar
5-7 years of UX design experience in professional design setting
Desired
Experience with UI design for a consumer electronic product
UX design experience for hardware IoT
Graphic design for user interfaces on multiple platforms
Web design, including ability to understand and write HTML, CSS, and JS
Ability to write code and understand the development process
Previous management/team lead experience
