About the Role

We are looking for a Sr. Product Designer with strong interests and capabilities in research and user experience design principles. The ideal candidate will thrive in a work environment that requires strong problem-solving skills and self-direction. You will work collaboratively with a team of Product Managers and Developers to lead user research to understand our customer’s needs, advocate for them and ensure that the final product meets user goals as well as business goals.

This individual excels at providing both highly analytical & creative ideas and can translate those ideas into design deliverables for the product team. This designer can deliver end to end design work, from research to final design comp in a fast-paced environment.

 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Translating concepts & business requirements into engaging user experiences

  • Ensuring usability & consistency

  • Collaborating with business & tech stakeholders via iterative feedback loops

  • Experience with user research such as personas & journey mapping.

  • Working experience in an agile environment with Product Manager and Development team

  • Know how to conduct user research and explore problem space

  • Bring the product team along the design process

  • Able to communicate design ideas well with whiteboarding session and/or with other design methodology (ex: design studio, card sorting, etcs)

  • Help design team grow in planning, executing strategies and vision

  • Understand modern design tools (Sketch, Invision, Adobe, etc.)

  • Can deliver basic WF, Hi-Fidelity WF, and Polish Design Comp in a fast pace environment

  • Able to champion user centered design practices

  • Can articulate why one design solution may be better than another

  • Know how to receive and deliver tough professional design critique

  • Know UX best practices and common design patterns

Desired Experience and Education

  • 5+ years of UX/ product design experience for software, web, and mobile applications

  • Formal Design Education BFA, MFA in HCI, Digital Arts, Interactive Design

  • Experience in leading team and mentoring Jr. designers

  • Experience in fast pace start-up

  • Strong work ethic, embraces challenges

  • Sense of humor

This position will include a competitive salary and benefits, and may be eligible to earn a performance bonus based on individual contribution and company performance. Compensation commensurate with experience.
