What you’ll do:

The Safety Instructional Designer’s overarching goal is to manage and create world-class digital and analog learning environments for Pinnacol customers through a variety of experiences, such as e-learning, instructor-led, virtual reality, digital video, webinars, and so forth. This role supports knowledge transfer of health and safety industry best practices which help our customers make their businesses stronger, safer, and more resilient.

What you can expect:

  • Design, develop, and ensure successful implementation of blended learning content across multiple topics for projects assigned. This requires a self-starter who relishes their autonomy to partner and consults with Pinnacol SMEs to ensure consistency in approach to content and material development.
  • Conduct needs analysis assessments to support the design, development, and delivery of safety products and services.
  • Utilize a variety of learning and development methodologies, techniques, concepts, learning tools, and practices to design, develop, and deliver learning experiences including instructor-led, e-learning, webinars, videos, etc. 
  • Develop effective learning tools utilizing state-of-the-art creative and e-learning software platforms such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premier Pro, Audition, After Effects, etc.), Lectora, Captivate, and Articulate, in addition to mastery of Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • As part of the design process, identify metrics to measure learning transfer success and ROI of training content developed and delivered to customers, together with best practices to create measurable high-quality training deliverables within budget and timelines.
  • As part of the development process, create post-training content that drives the adoption of knowledge and skills into the workplace that also measures and evaluates strategies to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of content.
  • Partner with Marketing and Communication team members to ensure branding, design approach, and methodologies are consistent.
  • Review and update learning content periodically.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What you need to be successful:

  • Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology / Instructional Design or a related field preferred, but not required
  • Intermediate level or above competency with Adobe Captivate, Lectora, and/or Articulate e-learning authoring tools is required
  • Intermediate or above level competency with Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Illustrator is required
  • Advanced beginner or above competency with Adobe InDesign, After Effects, and Audition as well as Cenario VR or similar virtual reality production software is required
  • 5 years of experience creating learning content using ADDIE or other instructional design best practices from start to finish is strongly preferred
  • Strong UX/visual communication design skills (e.g., graphic, web, user interface, etc.) is preferred
  • Results-driven: can deliver high-quality training materials with rapid turnaround while under pressure through prioritization and execution. 
  • Ability to create courses outside primary area of expertise through effective collaboration with subject matter experts
  • Experience developing programs for a variety of educational media (classroom, e-learning, video)
  • Experience developing an interactive, experiential curriculum for a diverse audience.
  • Experience with writing and creating assessments and other evaluation strategies based on learning objectives.
  • Ability to develop measurements for course work that accentuates the training ROI

  • Knowledge and ability to apply Human-Centered Design, through being curious, seeking out problems, and prototyping iterative solutions to those problems with the customer always in mind.
  • Strategic-Thinking: Understands and processes complex information and exercises sound judgment, considering the situation, the issues, the key players, and levels of authority involved. Proposes a course of action that furthers the objectives, priorities, and vision of the organization.
  • Risk-Taking: Willingness to take calculated risks, accept failure, get over failure, and move on to the next calculated risk. 
  • Resilience: Remains energized and focused in the face of ambiguity, rapid change, or strenuous demands. 
  • Teamwork and Leadership: Demonstrated proficiency working well inside small, high-performing teams with little supervision while under pressure. Willing to lead or be led depending on what the situation requires. Takes Extreme Ownership over all situations.

The compensation amount for this role is targeted at $69,300.00 - $82,600.00. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including your experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.

If you decide to come into the office, we’re just seven miles from downtown Denver, in the heart of the Lowry neighborhood. Our office is minutes away from a variety of restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores, fitness facilities and lush parks and open spaces.
