Job Duties and Responsibilities

Job Summary

 

Product at Sling includes the technology that enables our customers’ viewing experience. As a Product Designer for Sling TV, you will partner with product management to solve customer problems alongside a team of software and quality engineers in an agile environment. You will be responsible for leading and facilitating discovery efforts and user testing on a dedicated team. Our product designers continuously collaborate with their teams and participate in all phases of their product, from discovery to delivery to iteration. Your success will be measured on the success of the product. Product designers anchor their work with a broad view of UX. They think about the customer’s journey over time as they interact with the product and company as a whole.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Product Management and Technology to design and deliver software that delights customers
  • Lead discovery efforts through facilitating design sprints
  • Focus the team on building solutions that solve customer problems
  • Identify customer problems through user testing and analyzing customer feedback
  • Be responsible for all customer touchpoints and interactions within your team’s scope across all television platforms, web, tablet, and mobile devices
  • Build rapid interactive prototypes for usability testing, stakeholder demos, and developer handoff
  • Create user journey flows, wireframes, and visual comps that capture all aspects of the user experience
  • Continuously test and iterate upon ideas to find the best solutions for our customers
  • Document final solutions for implementation across all clients
  • Integrate best UX practices into the daily routine of the cross-functional team
  • Actively participate in weekly design reviews with the Product Design team
  • Play an active role in daily stand-ups and Scrum ceremonies
  • Continuously evangelize their product domain throughout the organization

Skills - Experience and Requirements

Key Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • A successful Product Designer is empathetic, curious, creative, detail-oriented, intuitive, and tech savvy
  • Displays great communication and collaboration skills
  • Sees customer problems as opportunities and obsesses over finding the best solution
  • Shows strong critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills, and is not afraid to take risks
  • Always on top of emerging design trends and best UX practices
  • Familiarity with various prototyping tools including Sketch, Invision, Framer, and Omnigraffle
  • Comfortable using Adobe Creative Suite applications including Photoshop, XD, and InDesign
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate research studies (user testing)
  • Experience participating in or facilitating solutioning workshops or design sprints
  • Strong focus on user-centered design methodology and has the ability to guide UX conversations with stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to understand customer needs, market trends, technical concepts, and evaluate new ideas

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university OR relevant work experience OR combination of education and relevant work experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in Product Design or User Experience, preferably at a video, mobile, or similar company

We have 2 headquarters in the Greater Denver area - you won't have to travel far! Business teams sit just south of DTC, while our IT team is downtown.
