Junior Product Designer
Rachio is a leader in smart home/Internet of Things (IoT) technology based in downtown Denver. We are seeking a Junior UX/UI designer to join our product team.
Our product marries hardware, software (including native mobile apps and a web app), and the real world (including weather and evapotranspiration data); your job is to simplify these complexities for our users to create beautiful, enjoyable, and educational experiences in our users’ “smart yard.”
Responsibilities
Help in creating consistent, branded, high-quality experiences across Android, iOS, and web
Work under the direction of our in-house UX/Product Designer to create user flows, prototypes, digital illustrations and other vector-based assets, motion graphics and video, and develop and maintain UI library
Partner with our in-house UX researchers to develop deep empathy for our users, understand key use cases/user stories, and always design with the user’s goals and challenges in mind
Partner with our engineers to understand technical constraints and possibilities, and work closely with engineering to implement live code as early as possible
Create mobile-first/responsive designs from project start to finish, including diagramming user flows, creating wireframes and creating high-fidelity clickable prototypes, and delivering pixel-perfect dev ready designs
Communicate effectively with all parts of our organization, especially product management, engineering, and UX research/consumer insights; pitch designs and concepts to stakeholders
Qualifications
Excellent visual design/illustration skills including typography, icon design, and motion graphics
Strong desire to learn/excel in UI/UX design field
Familiarity with Sketch, Invision, Adobe Creative Suite (especially Illustrator and After Effects) and/or other programs
Familiarity with iOS, Material Design, and web-based responsive design principles
BS in human interaction design, graphic design, or similar
1-3 years of design experience in professional design setting. Recent college graduates with strong portfolio will also be considered.
Desired
Experience using Lottie for motion graphics
Familiarity with digital marketing/growth principles
Design for user interfaces on multiple platforms
Web design, including ability to understand and write HTML, CSS, and JS
Ability to write code and understand the development process
