We’re focused on building our teams capability to design and develop industry-leading technical learning assets linked to performance-based outcomes. You will work in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment to gather requirements, perform audience needs and gap analyses, design solutions and develop engaging and deployment ready courseware for our entire range of products.
Location: Remote
Responsibilities:
70% - Courseware Development
- You’re involved in five main types of efforts: Updating existing courses to reflect current version releases, supporting release management with “What’s New” content, converting existing instructor-led courses to self-paced web-based courses, refreshing existing courses to make them more modern and engaging, and developing entirely new courses.
- You demonstrate agility by shifting often between these various efforts. Additional agility is demonstrated in development methodologies. Some opportunities include working independently while others include collaborative efforts with others on the Courseware Development Team and extended organization.
15% - Project Team Meetings
- We have a very high commitment to project discipline on our team and working within this kind of structure and associated processes is something you appreciate, a lot.
- You participate in daily project standups and are responsible for presenting your plan for the day, surfacing any challenges or blockers you’re facing, asking questions of the project team members and our team Technical Subject Matter Expert, and in general supporting the PM.
- You participate in our project Sprint Reviews held every two weeks where you’re responsible for presenting in detail the work you’ve completed in the current sprint to the project team and stakeholders.
- You participate in regular Sprint Retrospectives to help us recognize learning opportunities and improve our team processes and performance.
5% - Product Development and Release Management Meetings
- You’re a part of our rotation of developers attending various product development and product release meetings on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis, both representing our team as well as ensuring the team is informed and aware of product development and release statuses, issues, and timelines.
5% - Ad-Hoc Assignments
- We work in a dynamic environment where priorities can and do change. You enjoy taking on ad-hoc projects and fulling owning them from concept to delivery.
5% - Personal Development
- We highly value a growth mindset. So much so that we expect you’ll carve out two hours per week to focus on developing your knowledge with our products, underlying technologies, and your professional skills.
Who We Are Looking For:
Our Courseware Developers thrive on three things: 1) Consuming technical publications to learn about our products and stay on top of current release data, 2) getting hands-on with our products to self-learn and develop expertise from experience, and 3) collaborating with trainers, professional services engineers, support engineers, product management, software engineers, and other subject matter experts, to elicit the most current product knowledge and expertise and bake these into our learning assets in conjunction with new product release schedules.
You are a passionate collaborator, experienced in developing blended learning, just-in-time/micro-learning and “edutaining” learning assets. Personal Qualities/Characteristics:
- You like to have fun and make it fun for others. At the end of the day, we all should enjoy what we do and doing it together.
- You're a life-long learner with a growth mindset. You invest in your own development and value this in others as well.
- You are flexible with high change agility and adaptability. You know that things are constantly changing and evolving, and you tend to embrace those opportunities way more than you resist them.
- You're comfortable with ambiguity. You know you can't know or control everything and that's okay. You do the best with what you have while seeking to bring light to the darkness.
- You’re comfortable presenting to peers, managers, and executives, and enjoy being on stage.
- You’re always willing to figure it out. Whatever it is you’re ready to roll up your sleeves and get after it with confidence. When that challenge is a knowledge gap, which it often is, you're able to self-educate because you want to figure it out.
- You show you care about the team. You recognize that the team’s success is critical to your own and your first impulse is to support that in multiple ways, whether it’s lending a helping hand, sharing your knowledge, mentoring others, or general collaboration. Your willingness to contribute creates a positive team dynamic and others want work with you and have more people like you on the team.
- You own your own performance. You know what’s expected and you work to meet those expectations consistently. You don’t wait around for direction or guidance from your manager, you’re not reliant on others for help.
- You're a proactive communicator. You know that insufficient communications are the cause of most problems and great communications solve most problems. You strive to keep your management, teammates, and stakeholders continually well informed.
- You are a great listener. People tell you so. You're one of those people who can bring a conversation back on track because you recall what was being talked about before it derailed. You are sensitive to thoughts and feelings not being communicated and take them into consideration.
- You're resilient. When Murphy’s Law kicks in, you don’t let it get you down or infect others with negativity. You understand there are ups and downs in the journey and don’t let those derail you or cause you to lose sight of the destination. You bounce back quickly from adversity, know your limits, pay attention to how full your gas tank is, and know how to refill it.
- You can prioritize. You know not everything is equally critical and make smart choices about where to focus your limited time and attention.
