Head of Physical Product Design
Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced creative to lead the strategy and development of our high quality, personalized print products. In this position, you will utilize research and intuition to concept unique product opportunities that bring joy to our customers by honoring the meaningful in their lives. You carry a strong design voice and know where we should go and why. You want to make beautiful, tangible things.

Your design vision aligns with and pushes forward Artifact Uprising products, the brand, the work, and the team. You create relentlessly with a passion and dedication to quality and the belief that no detail is too small.
The Day to Day:
- Ideate & design physical product solutions; considering form factor, functionality, layout, type and graphics
- Use the world and human behavior to motivate and inspire solutions; identifying products and materials through innovation and research that tell a story
- Roadmap, market validate, test, and refine product concepts and prototypes
- Critique and manage design aesthetic for all physical product
- Align with best practices of our products and their design, then seek to raise the bar within the industry
- Manage the “why” behind a product, sharing inspiration and trends across the team that inform the digital experience and go-to-market strategy while also ensuring brand consistency across products
- Advocate for brand and design of products while identifying and understanding the business goals
Leadership:
- Manage the distribution and prioritization of workload across physical product design team
- Lead working sessions to engage and empower the physical product team
- Identify use of outside partners when needed
- Ensure successful and on time project completion; communicating needs and expectations to stakeholders
- Implement a creative process and workflow that accelerates product development and scales as the team grows
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of design experience with soft goods, ideally with a high-end brand
- An online portfolio demonstrating typography work and creative branding
- Understanding of the brand, refined taste for tones, typography and photography
- Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and 3D design/sketch programs
- Ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines with many moving pieces
- Experience managing a small creative team
