The Role

The Enterprise Data Architect should be an expert in data analysis, design, deploying and management of organization's data architecture. The Data Architect will be responsible in defining how the company’s structured and unstructured data will be stored, consumed, integrated/shared and reported by different IT application systems. The data architect will define and align architecture principles to the overarching enterprise architecture principles. The Data Architect will work towards building an enterprise model, a central dictionary of standard common business vocabulary, define strategy/ approach & principles for data quality management, master data management, data integration, data security/access and data archiving & retention. The Data Architect is also expected to be well versed in creating/maintaining/reverse engineering data models that enable the understanding and documentation of data standards, metadata and entity & domain relationships and the flow of data across business applications. Implementation of intended business architecture, conceptual flows, system data flows and create an inventory of the data needed to implement the architecture vision.

To achieve the set goals the data architect will be required to map systems and interfaces used to manage data, set standards for data management, analyze current state and conceive desired future state, and conceive projects needed to close the gap between current state and future goals. This role should also mentors, coach and educate team members in standard processes, policies and procedures related to data architecture. He or she should keep up-to-date on current and future IT trends and best practices in data architecture. This role should also leverage technical knowledge and expertise to develop and innovate technical solutions that meet the needs of the business and IT’s vision.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Data Analysis of current state, reverse engineer data models & data mapping.
  • Document & Manage data standards, semantic layer mapping, data flows and conceptual flows.
  • Identify, define & classify master data across the enterprise landscape.
  • Define & manage how customer, product, and company data will be stored, consumed, integrated and managed across the enterprise by different business applications, IT systems, and Users.
  • Working with business and IT teams to develop and maintain mappings/rules between business applications & business data and interfaces.
  • Set standards for data management (master & transaction), analyze current state and conceive desired future state.
  • Applies architectural and technology concepts to address scalability, security, reliability, maintainability and sharing of enterprise data.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure that technology decisions align with the overall Enterprise Architecture Framework/Roadmap

Other Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and expertise in the development of data standards, data governance, data management, design patterns and IT best practices.
  • Mentors, coaches and educates team members in standard processes, policies and procedures related to a specific technology.
  • Creates and enforces technology-specific guidelines, standards, policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Skills & Experience

  • Candidate should possess excellent knowledge & skills in data analysis, data modeling, data profiling, data management of structured and unstructured data.
  • Candidate should possess skills in database design, from conceptualization to database optimization.
  • Candidate should have a very good understanding of Master data management & data quality concepts
  • Candidate should have excellent knowledge and understanding of established/emerging data management technologies including and not limited to data analysis, profiling, DWH, reporting/analytics, data visualization.
  • NoSQL experience not mandatory, but a plus.
  • The data architect must understand the database technologies and their use to guide the organization in understanding and adopting them.
  • An ideal candidate should possess advanced knowledge of industry best practices in the various aspects of information, technology trends, enterprise operations knowledge and the ability to develop solutions.
  • Advanced knowledge of hardware, software, business applications and systems engineering are required
  • Intermediate knowledge and execution of IT Standards, Policies and Procedures is required
  • Intermediate knowledge and execution of SDLC is required
  • Intermediate knowledge of Information Security awareness is a plus
  • Good knowledge of General Project Management Methodology & Tools

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field or relevant experience.
  • 10+ years of IT and business/industry work experience
  • 5+ years of professional experience in Data/Information Architecture
