Director, Design will manage a design team of UI/UX/Visual, and lead Design holistically across Sovrn.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the design team and provide thoughtful and strategic feedback across Product, Marketing, and all end-user interactions
  • Oversee all aspects of UI/UX/Visual design from conception to final execution
  • Understand complex product requirements to ensure easy and intuitive user flows allowing for a consistent, efficient and lightweight user experience.
  • Facilitate (or translate) Product visions by researching, conceiving, wire-framing, sketching, prototyping, and mocking-up user experiences for Sovrn’s digital products.
  • Identify design challenges and devise creative and efficient solutions that increase usability and overall user experience of existing and new applications.
  • Establish workflow & best practices for research and usability testing
  • Work collaboratively with engineers, marketers and product managers to build scalable solutions to improve the user experience
  • Ensure brand and experience consistency across Sovrn

Qualifications and Skills

  • Leadership experience: leading teams, encouraging growth, defining process, learning
  • Expert in Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator and any other industry standard design tools
  • Fluency in understanding of web languages including HTML, CSS, SASS, JS and thorough understanding of responsive design
  • Experience in mobile design and an understanding of iOS and Android guidelines
  • Understanding of the Agile software development process
  • Demonstrated experience with end-to-end product design
  • Think strategically about the product and apply tactical solutions
  • Must be able to confidently make decisions
  • Flexibility in approach. Willingness to learn and adapt
  • Strong and creative problem-solving skills
  • Skill in writing concisely to clearly articulate your design decisions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills dealing with customers, suppliers, and internal departments
  • Experience and understanding of how to solicit and use feedback
  • Excellent visual design skills that demonstrate that end user in mind is at top of mind
  • Experience in data visualization and enterprise web application development is a plus
