Guild is hiring a VP of Marketplace Planning responsible for the effective planning and prioritization of launches, expansions and special requests from employers and academic providers. You will be operating as an objective, cross-functional leader responsible for building and scaling one of Guild’s newest internal functions. In this role you would drive the function’s operational strategy, key success metrics, as well as build a lean, world class team.

Our new VP will be responsible for setting up, managing and continuously improving a comprehensive short and medium term planning system (3-9 month outlook), designed to maintain deal momentum; create insight into asks and commitments; surface implications, tradeoffs or constraints; and provide the information needed for Guild leaders to make speedy, informed investment and prioritization decisions. You will work closely with Employer and Learning Marketplace GTM and Delivery teams across Guild (Technology, Payments, Finance & Accounting, Student Experience, Marketplace Enablement, etc) to understand sales needs, capacity considerations, size of asks, advocate for changes, and help translate sales requests to Operating teams and vice versa, so that Guild can grow quickly while minimizing future tech and operating debt!

We are looking for someone that brings together a deep passion and experience building “just right” processes, workflows, and strategies to drive the business forward, with the ability to think critically and pragmatically about the current state system, and recommend and implement enhancements.

As the VP of Marketplace Planning, you will:

  • Be accountable for the successful end to end delivery of our marketplace planning system for academic providers and employer partners, that can sync effectively with our distinct core Product and Solutions Roadmaps
  • Develop, refine and continuously improve processes and tooling including: 1)central intake; solution fit and investment consideration review; 3) deal and launch sign off and timing
  • Partner with internal colleagues to understand their needs from the planning system and input into the system so that it works harmoniously
  • Prioritize system, process, product and operational improvements
  • Capture business requirements for tooling needed to enable organization visibility and efficiency as requests are reviewed
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of Guild and how it works to serve as a thought partner and issue spotter as requests come through.
  • Serve as an “honest broker” to help inform decisions, timing considerations, surface risks, tradeoffs and opportunity costs, with the eye towards what’s best for Guild’s overall business.
  • Help find opportunities or investments needed to increase Guild’s overall absorption capacity across Technical and Operating teams so that we can reach our growth potential.
  • Identify current or future bottlenecks and proactively work cross-functional counterparts and to address these.
  • Identify common asks and help advise for key product, operations, and workflow changes needed with our Technical and Operating teams, or adjustments with our GTM motion.
  • Help create process and program improvements and support the implementation of operational changes for new/existing Partner launches
  • Ask the questions that will help the team continuously improve our speed, accuracy and service quality outcomes
  • Set service standards, define critical metrics, and ensure team and individual accountability
  • Coordinate with GTM, Product & Technology, and Operating teams to tackle problems and raise issues quickly

You are a strong fit for this role if you have:

  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience in project management, operations, consulting
  • Bachelor’s degree in a business or technical field; MBA or similar graduate degree is a plus
  • A proven track record of leading initiatives, delivering results, and succeeding in a high-growth, high-velocity environment
  • A passion for working in a cross-functional environment with an demonstrated ability to work with a range of partners across the organization to handle expectations and drive alignment
  • A passion for both high-level critical thinking and as well as operational execution
  • Experience in setting up new operational processes. You enjoy being challenged by balancing day-to-day operations, while also identifying innovative ways to drive step function change.
  • The ability to communicate complex topics in a clear, concise, and thorough way to partners at all levels of the organization.
  • A demonstrated ability to synthesize data, make informed decisions and balance quantitative measurement with an empathetic, intuition-based approach
  • Strong business proficiency – be comfortable defining strategy, identifying and modeling business opportunities, and crafting and completing go-to-market plans.
  • A bias toward getting stuff done; no job is beneath you and you lead from the front
  • You don't shy away from conflict and are adept at managing multiple stakeholders
  • Experience scaling a team, processes, and systems in a fast growing environment

We feel passionately about equal pay for equal work, and transparency in compensation is one vehicle to achieve that. Total compensation for this role is market competitive, including a base salary range of $210,000-$247,500 as well as company stock options.
