Summary
Xyleme is looking for a Technical Owner to help design, develop, and expand its Data Insights business initiatives at Xyleme. This role includes aspects of product ownership, technical product management, technical design, and full stack development to help implement the long-term vision of Xyleme's SaaS content management platform. To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong academic record with several years of experience in software development, with exposure to architecture design, estimating, development, and testing. We understand you may not be an expert at everything, so you should be interested and willing to quickly learn new skills and be dedicated to continuous improvement of processes, applications and services, and be comfortable / willing to attend meetings and visit our office to participate in strategy discussions.
What You Will Do
As a Technical Owner, you will perform the following types of tasks as part completing projects and new implementations or improving or maintaining existing services:

  • Provide product direction to the development teams
  • Transform high-level vision of the product into clear detailed technical requirements
  • Review new features and improvements in development to identify gaps and refine the feature/improvements prior to testing and release
  • Assist the Product Management team to understand what is and isn't possible within the current product design
  • Assist with documenting supported and unsupported use cases for primary components of the platform
  • Balance constraints, velocity, and capabilities of the internal dev team with needs/wants of Sales, PM and Customers
  • Work closely with a range of stakeholders for the product, including Executive Leadership Team (strategic direction), Sales (understanding prospect's needs, analyzing losses), IT/Security (security, customer audits), Finance (hosting costs, billing), and Customer Success (operations, support, usage)
  • Assist with product development (coding)
  • Participate in tactical activities such as attending team coordination meetings, organizing demos, and doing sufficient analysis to ensure that requirements are ready to be worked on
  • Support the Customer Success team to deliver product to customer, and ensure its overall success, including retaining customers and increasing overall market value
  • Identify/understand rough edges and potholes in the product and use this knowledge to help negotiate trade-offs between additional feature requirements and time constraints
  • Occasionally provide support help to end users if needed to resolve a critical problem or complete a project


Technical Skills & Experience
Required:

  • Experience in at least one data visualization application such as Amazon Quicksight, Power BI, Tableau, etc.
  • The ability to determine and design appropriate visualizations to illustrate key insights
  • Experience with building interactive dashboards to convey data trends
  • Experience using SQL to manage and manipulate data for analysis
  • Good understanding of database design, including schema design and versioning data
  • Exposure to UI and UX design process, and working with a UI Designer


Desired:

  • Understanding JavaScript build and task-runner technologies such as NPM/Gulp/Grunt/Webpack
  • Understanding language-specific concepts such as inheritance, scoping, type-coercing, etc.
  • Experience in working with cross-domain communications
  • Web development skills including HTML, CSS, and XML, with strong understanding of web security (OWASP, SANS, CORS)
  • Experience with designing and building automated testing frameworks
  • Experience with data interchange formats such as JSON and YAML
  • Experience using Git and trunk-based development in a team environment (merge requests, branching, push, and pulls)
  • Database knowledge including relational and/or NoSQL databases such as MySQL/MongoDB/DynamoDB
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services technologies, including S3, ECS, Lambda, and API Gateway
  • Experience in unit and integration using frameworks such as JUnit, Mocha, Selenium, and Cypress

Total compensation for this role is market competitive, in the range of $90,000-$140,000 annually, DOE.
