The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for aiding in building the business’ data storage systems and processing pipelines within the primary application stack. The role of the Senior Data Engineer is responsible for verifying code quality, structure and design for teams modifying the data systems, and assisting the Architecture team with produced code and artifacts to verify proofs of concept or deliver application level framework support. 

The Senior Data Engineer also supports the DevOps team with various DBA functions including performance tuning on an ad hoc basis for the maintenance of the existing data stack. The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for recommending technology stacks to solve appropriate data storage and processing requirements including assisting the Data Science Engineer with pipeline integration of the data analytics, data lakes and aggregation/analysis tools.

The leadership expectations for the role of the Senior Data Engineer is primarily for mentoring either junior data engineers or developers on database topics, techniques and strategies. The role provides senior-level contribution to a team that is responsible for the design, deployment, and maintenance of the business’s data platforms.

It is the duty of the Senior Data Engineer to monitor the existing metrics, analyze data, and lead partnership with other Data and Analytics teams in an effort to identify and implement system and process improvements.

The Senior Data Engineer will additionally develop queries for ad hoc business projects, as well as ongoing reporting and performance tuning. The Senior Data Engineer designs, architects, implements, and supports key datasets that avail structured and timely access to actionable business insights within the core Convercent application.

The Senior Data Engineer is tasked with developing ETL processes that convert data into formats ready for consumption through reporting interfaces. Additionally, the Senior Data Engineer provides support to the data sciences team to provide knowledge and tooling for the data sciences pipelines.
