As part of our Risk Team, you’ll play a critical role in the development and operation of our risk program. This opportunity will have a big impact as our small, early-stage company prepares to expand and transform the business payments space.

 

To be successful in this role, you must be highly knowledgeable in industry best practices and regulatory expectations. You should be comfortable thinking outside the box and creating bespoke solutions that work for our unique company at its current maturity. You have no problem juggling numerous priorities at once, navigating complex situations, and operating effectively amid uncertainty. You have the drive to take on more responsibilities as this role evolves with the maturation of the program and growth of the team.

 

This role reports to the Director of Enterprise Risk and will be part of a dynamic risk management function, crossing all risk disciplines, including testing and compliance, and partnering across the organization.

What You’ll Do:

· Proactively assist in the oversight of risk management activities, including supporting the continued build out of the Enterprise Risk Management framework and establishing a data-first approach to better understand potential risks, concerns, and outcomes

· Develop and implement risk processes, tools, policies, standards, and procedures in alignment with the Enterprise Risk Management program

· Effectively communicate emerging and/or changing risk and related control opportunities and enhancements to management

· Maintain awareness of key process changes, system changes, organization or governance structure, and key outsourcing arrangements/vendor exposure and how they impact operational risk management

· Analyze potential fraud including any returned items, wire and ACH activity, new accounts, and other suspicious activities, and stay up to date on fraud trends in the industry

· Oversee and perform root cause analyses on losses, near misses, and other risk issues as assigned

· Take a data-centric approach to risk management efforts using both internal and external data points relevant to the risk profile of Reserve Trust and its business and operating environments

· Prepare monthly/quarterly management reports of all risk activities

· Follow Reserve Trust policies and procedures

· Perform all job responsibilities on a timely basis and to a high standard of excellence

· Perform duties specific to the position and other functions as assigned

 

Basic Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university, and a minimum of 7 years related work experience

· 5 to 7+ years of experience as a risk or business analyst in FinTech or other financial services institution, ideally within a payments business (either a standalone payments company or a payments-related division of a broader financial institution)

· 5+ years of direct work experience in risk or compliance (including as an operator, consultant, or regulator)

· Experience in a startup environment, working at a FinTech, or working with a FinTech highly preferred

· Solid understanding of multiple risk and risk-management processes to identify and monitor risks within the organization

· Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and meet defined deadlines

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills to inform managers and other stakeholders of results

· Ability to manage multiple projects and programs at the same time to complete work

· Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to independently solve problems

· Exceptional quantitative and analytical skills, with a demonstrated ability to understand new analytical concepts

· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Lucidchart, and other analysis programs

· Basic knowledge of programming languages, such as SQL or Python

We feel passionately about equal pay for equal work, and transparency in compensation is one vehicle to achieve that. Total compensation for this role is market competitive, including a base salary range of $80,000 – 100,000. Reserve Trust intends to offer the selected candidate base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience.
