Senior Information Security Analyst – Denver, Colorado

The SOC analyst is responsible for activities relating to monitoring and responding to security events. The SOC analyst receives, researches, triages, and documents all security events and alerts as they are received. This individual support multiple security-related platforms and technologies, interfacing with others within the IT organization, as well as other internal business units and external customers/partners. Events will be generated from endpoints, networks, security information and event management (SIEM) systems, threat intelligence platforms, employees, third parties and other sources.

In this role you need 3-5 years of information security monitoring and response or related experience. Experience working in a 24x7 operational environment, with geographic disparity preferred. Experience driving measurable improvement in monitoring and response capabilities at scale. Experience working with SIEM systems, threat intelligence platforms, security automation and orchestration solutions, intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS), file integrity monitoring (FIM), DLP and other network and system monitoring tools. Knowledge of a variety of Internet protocols.

You will manage security event investigations, partnering with other departments (e.g., IT) as needed. Evaluate SOC policies/procedures and recommend updates to management as appropriate. Partner with the security engineering team to improve tool usage and workflow, as well as with the advanced threats and assessment team to mature monitoring and response capabilities. Working knowledge/experience with network systems, security principles, applications and risk and compliance initiatives such as Gramm-Leach Bliley Act (GLBA), Payment Card Industry (PCI), Health Information Portability and Accountability Ace (HIPAA), Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

In this crucial role you need a understanding of malware and various attack vectors commonly employed by hackers. Solid understanding of general information security principles. Firm understanding of various attacks, such as, phishing, SQLi, XSS, buffer overflow techniques, and data leakage. Provide tier one Security Operations Center (SOC) support to WU .

You must be willing to work in a 24x7 SOC environment in 10 hour shifts. Capable of analyzing security log events generated by SIEM and IDS/IPS and various other systems. Serve as the front-line support for security events. Maintain SLA for responding to security events. Knowledge of Linux/UNIX operating system environments. Knowledge of Windows system internals. Perform initial triage and escalation of events of interest. Perform response on tier 1 alerts that can be handled and resolved.

Annual base salary gross: $71,192-121,476. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the Western Union salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and proficiency for the role. The base salary is one component of Western Union’s total compensation package for employees.
