Senior DBA
We are seeking a skilled and experienced database administrator to join our growing organization. In this position, you will Design, Implement, & Maintain the Data Solutions for our offerings in both relational and nonrelational databases. This is truly a Big Data opportunity with existing datasets of ~180TB in SQL DBs and a growing Elasticsearch Cluster of over 670TB of data in production and ~20TB per day ingestion. An organized, detail-oriented work ethic is a must. We are looking for Leaders at all levels.
Database Administrator Duties and Responsibilities
Maintains database performance by identifying and resolving production and application development problems; calculating optimum values for parameters; evaluating, integrating, and installing new releases; completing maintenance; answering user questions
Installs database systems by developing and applying optimum access techniques; coordinating installation actions; and supporting documentation
Manage storage and security for all applications and report incidents as they arise
Determines database structural requirements by analyzing client operations, workflows, applications, and programming; reviewing objectives with clients; evaluating current systems
Provides database support by coding utilities, responding to user questions, and resolving problems
Manage backup and recovery procedures and create/maintain custom monitoring and maintenance solutions
Develop and implement data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and data quality
Assist with Proof of concept, data correlation, data integrity and processes that require coordination of efforts across multiple business areas
Work with Developers to create database solutions by designing proposed system; defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, security, backup, and recovery specifications
Provide thought leadership in the assessment of existing systems. Ensure adherence to data management standards and practices. Develop best practices, standards of excellence, and guidelines to enforce and guide behavior.
Working in an agile format with multiple teams both relying on the DBA team to fill the current issues of the spirit but the design to create a better next one.
Database Administrator Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, computer science, engineering, or related field
Three to four years database administration experience in a production environment
One to two years of experience managing cloud infrastructure
Experience with many of the following: Elasticsearch, Microsoft SQL Server, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL, AWS RDS, solr, AWS Aurora andPresto.
Should have experience with tools in each of these areas:
Data Modeling skills/tools (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL, AWS related Db technologies, SQL Server Management Studio (SMS), etc.)
Data Integration, Analytics and Business Intelligence (BI) Skills / Tools (e.g. SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), SQL Server Reporting Server (SSRS), etc.)
Data Warehousing, ETL, SQL and NoSQL Databases, and Administration.
Experience providing practical direction on information and analytic platforms in conjunction with EDW tools and technologies.
Monitoring tools (e.g. Grafana, vividcortex, signalfx, Redgate SQL monitor, Idera SQL Diagnostic Manager, SQL Sentry, etc.)
Storage technologies (e.g. XTremIO, Nimble, Rubrik, EBS, S3, etc.)
Experience with database migrations and proficient in performance tuning and optimization
Experience and maintaining and optimizing VLDBs (Terabytes in size) and storage (Petabytes in size)
Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
Accurate and precise attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent analytical, quantitative, and organizational skills
Up-to-date on latest industry trends; able to articulate trends and potential clearly and confidently
Good interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management
