The Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS), Ground Development and Mission Operations Division, is seeking a Senior Database Administer (Level 5) to join our team located in Colorado Springs, CO. Our Space and Launch Team creates the next generation products and services for the BDS business unit. The SBSS program is a space-based satellite system which provides critical Space Situational Awareness (SSA)/Space Domain Awareness (SDA) data to our US Space Force war fighters. The SBSS Team is responsible for maintaining accurate ground segment operations, mission data processing and cyber security at both the Boeing SBSS Depot in Colorado Springs and the Mission Operations Center located at Schriever Space Force Base. The SBSS is a classified Space Force mission program, critical to our national defense. mote sensing, space control and exploration.
Position Overview:
The Senior Database Administer will be a part of a high-performing team focused on operations and sustainment. This position will be responsible for database administration of multiple Oracle databases supporting ground system operations on the Space Based Space Surveillance program (SBSS). This position provides the opportunity to establish and maintain customer relationships as well as partnerships with stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports. This role reports directly to the Boeing SBSS program Manager and Lead Program Engineer. This opportunity offers a collaborative mentoring environment where you have the opportunity to both learn from others, as well as a mentor.
Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain and execute database procedures to support ground segment operations
  • Develop, maintain and execute database procedures to support cyber security requirements and continuous monitoring.
  • Daft, edit and resolve database-oriented Discrepancy Reports (DR)
  • Provide schedule requirements and updates to the Master Program Schedule for database support work
  • Support detailed technical document reviews.
  • Use an enthusiastic, hands-on approach to work.
  • Designs, develops and maintains complex databases.
  • Leads the design, integration and maintenance of complex databases.
  • Directs the design, implementation and test of database backup, recovery systems, database migration and archiving systems and procedures.
  • Researches issues related to database security.
  • Recommends proper hardware and software implementations to improve software quality, efficiency and minimize cost.
  • Defines architecture and thresholds for database monitoring.
  • Directs activities to monitor performance trends.


Work Authorization:
This position requires an active/current Top-Secret U.S. Security Clearance, with the ability to obtain a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartment Information (TS/SCI) security clearance and program access (post-start). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.).
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience):

  • 5 years or more of experience working with ORACLE databases.
  • IAT Level II Security + certification or equivalent.

Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Relocation :
Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Colorado summary pay range: Min: $136,000 - Max: $184,00
