About the Team VIZIO IoT Analytics team is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join the team. The successful candidate will leverage their knowledge of data pipelines and data engineering to help drive insight and direction to a broad variety of internal stakeholders in our organization. As a team, we're focused on ensuring all our customers have seamless and vibrant entertainment experiences in their homes. We own the pipeline that gives internal stakeholders visibility into millions of TVs in North America and the operations of the organization. We seek to shine light into the full lifecycle of getting new features to our users TVs and keep them delighted day after day. What You Will Do

  • Maintain and drive architecture/design for our data pipeline.
  • Define and drive data SLOs and improve data quality
  • Communicate designs and decisions within the team and will encourage new ideas and solutions.
  • Participate in the planning, grooming, and scheduling of tasks, and responsible for meeting deadlines as determined jointly with their manager.
  • Properly comment code as appropriate and produce external documentation for more complex software components.
  • Stay up to date with current development tools, processes, and techniques as related to the data ecosystem
  • Assume ownership of the data lifecycle, including sourcing, ingestion, storing, transforming, visualizing (or serving other data products), testing, deploying pipelines, and monitoring
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
  • Integrate and collaborate with other divisions of VIZIO - including backend/frontend engineers, IT, program management, product, BD, legal - to deliver insight and data products to the organization

About You

  • You have a BS degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics, or related field.
  • You have at least 5 years of experience in a technical role, of which 2+ were data engineering.
  • You are highly skilled in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Java, Kotlin, Python, Go, or C++), preferably Python
  • You have experience with cloud (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) or Kubernetes
  • You have experience with containers/Docker
  • You have experience with databases (e.g., relational, K/V, wide-column) and the tradeoffs they pose
  • You have experience with big data tools: Hadoop, Spark, Flink, Kafka, Druid, Dremio, etc.
  • You have experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools: Airflow, Argo, etc.
  • You have experience with dashboard/BI tooling: QuickSight, Tableau, Apache Superset, etc.
  • You have exposure to modern data problems and tooling, including data versioning, data cataloging and discovery, workflow management/orchestration/scheduling, data governance/access, and DataOps/MLOps
  • You have knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, test-driven development, continuous deployments, and agile methodologies.
  • You have exposure to operating large-scale data systems, including security, defining and monitoring service metrics, infrastructure management and scaling, and DataOps best practices.
  • You have demonstrated experience building processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management.
  • You have a successful history of manipulating, processing and extracting value from large disconnected datasets.
