We’re building the first mobile platform for early education – a $60B market in the US alone – with the largest network of schools and providers across the globe. Based in San Francisco, Denver, & Austin, our team is passionate, talented, and customer-focused. We feel fortunate to be able to build a platform that has a measurable impact on the daily lives of teachers, parents, and kids. The team includes former Amazon, eBay, LinkedIn, Square, and Zynga staffers, and investors include GGV Capital, Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, Eniac, ICONIQ, Bessemer Ventures, and Mark Cuban.

We are seeking a driven Senior Data Engineer to empower our stakeholders to leverage data to make critical business decisions and expand on our product offering. We want to build and scale our data systems to meet the various real-time, near real-time, and batch needs of today, while building in flexibility for the emergent needs of tomorrow. This would be the first Data Engineering hire to our team, so candidates for this role will have a major impact on how the function gets built out over time.

We are a lean, fast-moving team that prefers to avoid meetings and focus 100% on driving impact. The ideal candidate for this role is passionate about working cross-functionally to discover current data needs and build extensible systems to address those needs for users.

You will:

    • Own the data warehouse, pipeline, and integration points between various business systems
    • Drive organizational change around how we utilize data to make decisions
    • Deliver systems that will democratize data for anyone who seeks it
    • Determine the long-term architecture and infrastructure needs of brightwheel’s data ecosystem

Ideal candidates will have:

    • 5+ years of building data engineering systems, preferably at companies with fast-growing and evolving data needs
    • Expertise working with AWS managed services, such as Glue and Redshift
    • Worked in multi-disciplinary teams with both technical and non-technical people alike
    • Strong sense of scalable architecture and software design patterns

Brightwheel is proud to celebrate diversity and is committed to building an inclusive workplace regardless of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy and gender identity), national origin, political affiliation, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, genetic information, age, membership in an employee organization, retaliation, parental status, military service, or other non-merit factor.
