Access Fund is seeking a full-time Salesforce and Data Administrator. Access Fund is the national advocacy organization that keeps US climbing areas open and conserves the climbing environment. Founded in 1991, Access Fund represents climbers nationwide in all forms of climbing: rock, ice, mountaineering, and bouldering.

As the Salesforce Data Administrator, you’ll act as chief trainer, advisor, enabler, and investigator for our Salesforce donor management system. You’ll build and develop a deep understanding of the processes and systems that make the organization run. You’ll help our team curate a pristine set of data so we can keep making the right strategic decisions. This includes skilled and reliable management of the Access Fund’s Salesforce database; technical support for development, membership, and fundraising activities; providing data insights and reports that help guide and drive organization growth. This position is part of the Operations Team and plays an integral role in developing and executing strategies that drive membership growth and retention. Candidates must possess strong analytical skills, experience managing a database, and attention to detail. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, highly adaptable, and thrives in a nimble and innovative environment.

Database Administration

  • Manage the day-to-day administration of Access Fund’s Salesforce donor relationship database and roundCorner overlay.
  • Responsible for the overall health of the database, including data integrity, regular database upgrades, workflow and process management, and developing web forms for data input, and reporting.
  • Review, develop, and create systems and processes to streamline fundraising activities, membership activities, and program activities.
  • Work with staff across the organization to design and produce reports that provide critical business insights, presenting data in a high-level way that is easy for leadership to understand.
  • Use data insights to design processes that drive membership acquisition and retention, fundraising, and program effectiveness.
  • Manage changes within the Salesforce ecosystem, including integrations, custom objects, custom fields, page layouts, workflow, validation rules, dashboards, reports, etc.
  • Troubleshoot data issues and coordinate resolution with internal stakeholders.
  • Train new and existing staff on Salesforce functionality.
  • Work to increase database functionality, revising methodologies and documenting standard operating procedures.
  • Serve as the key contact for Salesforce, roundCorner, and any other database contractors.

Membership and Development Support

  • Oversee the daily implementation of gift processing as it relates to the database, including new memberships, renewals, in-kind and other donations.
  • Work with the Marketing team to analyze the performance of fundraising campaigns.
  • Generate queries, reports, and contact lists for member/donor communications and events.
  • Work with Finance Manager to build and revise systems to export data from Salesforce into Quickbooks.
  • Partner with the Marketing Team to help develop database architecture and processes to support member acquisition activities, including support for a growing and evolving Leads program.
  • Manage the membership renewal process by sending monthly email reminders and orchestrating paper renewal mailings with our direct mail house.
  • Act as main point of contact for membership services by answering questions regarding membership status, payments, transactions, and member benefits.

Base Qualifications:

  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience overseeing a donor/customer management database, including data entry and query design.
  • Must be able to work a consistent 40 hour week, with flexibility to work some weekends and travel when necessary.
  • Must possess excellent computer skills, specifically Salesforce and Microsoft Excel, and have a willingness to learn custom database software.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, flexibility, multitasking abilities, and a high level of attention-to-detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team.
  • Familiarity with non-profit organizations and fundraising tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter, capable of taking direction but working independently.
  • Knowledge of climbing and an interest in climbing advocacy and the work of the Access Fund.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree or higher.
  • Experience working with roundCorner and/or NGO Connect.
  • Proficiency in programming languages Java, Apex, VisualForce, and HTML.
  • Understanding of fundraising principles and practices.

Physical Requirements: This is largely a sedentary role; however, stairs and some filing or carrying of boxes may be required. This would require bending or standing and the ability to lift files and open filing cabinets.

  • Salary commensurate with experience.
  • Pro-deal participation; membership at local bouldering gym.
