Responsibilities

  • Use data and analytics to routinely answer questions on user behavior, including ad-hoc questions, project support, and trend investigation
  • Routinely monitor product, financial, marketing, community, and trust & safety metrics for trends, changes, or unexpected behavior
  • Own investigation and communication of any trends to identify root cause and recommend appropriate follow up actions
  • Translate metrics, investigations, and findings to tangible business outcomes, such as shifts in real member behavior
  • Provide recommendations on approach to answer ad-hoc analytics questions, as well as support analysis through data analysis, model development, etc.
  • Routinely evaluate which metrics are monitored to identify opportunities to improve visibility into member behavior on the product and other business metrics
  • Provide monthly metrics reports to various cross functional teams and executives, and manage supporting data dashboards and reports (e.g. financial, trust and safety, etc.)
  • Actively identify new business and product opportunities based on data trends
  • Proactively identify and seek alignment on ways to continuously improve all day to day responsibilities, such as automation of metrics reports, increasing ease of use of analytics tools, etc.
  • Power user of key product analytics tools including Tableau, Amplitude, Google Analytics, and SQL, and supports training of other team members on use of these tools
  • Provide business requirements to data engineering to improve upon analytics tools, such as what data is needed, frequency, etc.
  • Identify improvements needed in data sources or flow to support other analytics responsibilities
  • Be available to work morning overlap hours with our remote team from 8-10AM PST

Requirements

  • 3+ years previous experience working on analytics and/or data science teams
  • Excellent SQL skills; extensive experience querying large, complex data sets & proven ability to thrive with multiple imperfect, mixed, varied, and inconsistent data sources; experience with Redshift a plus.  Python is a plus.
  • Excellent Tableau skills; manage existing reports, add new ones, and leverage Tableau tools to communicate insights throughout the company.  
  • Fluency in data analysis, including trend and root cause identification, experimentation and statistical analysis, data visualization and defining KPIs and communication around data to inform the success of the business and its features
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive root cause analysis, including analysis of information that may not come directly from specified data sources
  • Detail-oriented with superior organizational skills. Able to navigate between multiple projects, meet deadlines, and process ad hoc requests.
  • Experience using descriptive and inferential statistics to analyze and present findings
  • Ability to use storytelling to describe data analysis
  • Comfortable venturing into unknown territory and learning new things/technologies in order to find solutions
  • Curious, problem solving, collaborative, communicative and autonomous
  • Positive and team oriented "can-do" attitude
