We are currently looking for a Principal Data Scientist to join our Denver, CO based team.As Principal Data Scientist you will play an integral role in supporting PointsBet's continued growth and success.

WHAT YOU WILL OWN

  • As a core member of the Advanced Technology team, provide hands-on technical leadership to other Data Scientists and collaborate effectively with a global technology team in building innovative AI/ML solutions.
  • Partner closely with product and business domain experts to propose solutions and strategies for business value generation of high impact in diverse areas such as personalized customer experiences, responsible gaming, and risk management.
  • A deep understanding of PointsBet business, processes and data sources needed to conduct analysis through active collaboration with business experts, external partners, and research.
  • Undertake preprocessing of structured and unstructured data.
  • Analyze large amounts of information to discover trends and patterns and generate features.
  • Responsible for clearly interpreting business need, and the design, development, validation and operationalizing of predictive models into production environments.
  • Consistently present information and insights from the Data Science projects to stakeholders using data visualization techniques and effective storytelling.
  • Keep abreast of current and emerging capabilities in AI, ML, and analytical technologies and how these can be applied to the product and business opportunities.


SKILLS WE SEEK

  • Master's Degree or PhD in a highly quantitative field (Computer Science, Machine Learning, Operational Research, Statistics, Mathematics, etc.) or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of industry experience in predictive modeling, data science and analysis
  • 4+ years post graduate work experience
  • Proven experience in a ML or Data Scientist role with a track record of building and operationalizing successful ML or DL models
  • Strong technical mentoring ability for Data Scientists with a proven ability to build a high-performance Data Science and/or ML Engineering team.
  • Hand on experience with Databricks Spark dataframes, SQL, Azure ML, Azure Streaming Analytics
  • Diverse technical skills useful for all phases of the Data Science lifecycle (Python, Databricks, Azure Machine Learning, SQL, JavaScript, PowerBI etc.)
  • Aptitude for working in a fast-paced collaborative team environment with proven experience as a self-starter and problem-solver.
  • Experience with Agile software development practices
  • Working experience with SQL/NoSQL databases, Data Warehouse(s) and ETL Solutions
  • Proven project experience delivering insights from data science and ML approaches
  • Experience using shell scripts, Python, Java and/or C# in production environments with source code management and distributed version-control systems like GitHub, Gitlab, Bitbucket.
  • Demonstrated project experience with an industry-leading ML library (scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow/Keras)
  • Advanced statistical analysis abilities and strong understanding of the mathematical foundations of Machine Learning/Statistical algorithms with the ability to explain to non-technical stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal skills as well as the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from leaders and peers.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion
