We’re seeking a Principal Data Engineer/Architect who is creative, technically strong, and a great communicator. The ideal candidate thrives on designing and implementing data pipelines: from the ingest stage of first- or third-party data to the sharing stage of our data warehouse, and all the ETL steps in-between. They’ll partner with engineers and business stakeholders across the organization while developing solutions.

  • Inherit, improve, and extend data ETL pipelines for video consumption, user interaction, and marketing tracking data produced by our platform.
  • Manage the technical aspects of our data warehouse.

  • Identify opportunities for performance improvements, cost reductions, and other efficiency gains in our data architecture.

  • Serve as a vital interaction communication bridge between our technical teams and our analytics and marketing teams.

Qualifications
• 5+ years of data engineering/architecture experience.
• Expert-level proficiency in SQL and at least one other SQL-like dialect (e.g. SparkSQL, Google BigQuery, Presto).
• Strong background in Amazon Web Services (AWS) offerings, including Redshift & Redshift Spectrum, Athena/GLUE, EMR, Lambda, and S3.
• Strong fundamentals in RDBMS systems, bottlenecks, and performance considerations, with an emphasis on PostgreSQL.
• UNIX/Linux scripting knowledge and proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language (e.g. Bash & Python).
• Docker/Rkt (i.e. “container”) working knowledge.
• Plus: data protection policy background.

Nice-To-Haves
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
• Strong fundamentals in transactional RDBMS systems, bottlenecks, and performance considerations, with an emphasis on PostgreSQL.
• Docker/Rkt (i.e. “container”) working knowledge.
• Experience with cyber-security implementations (data loss-prevention policies, encryption, etc.)
