We are looking for a Lead Product Data Scientist to join our Data Science & Engineering team and lead the data analytics efforts for our core booking experience vertical. You will partner with our Product and Software Development teams to develop the analytics frameworks, KPIs, experimentations, and deep dive analyses for our core platform, directly influencing our product strategy, prioritization, and delivery. You will be responsible for leading projects that not only help us measure the success and impact of existing and new product features, but also help us understand user behavior and opportunities for product improvements. The individual in this role must be highly motivated, a self-starter with a strong track record of achievements, an obsession for rigorous work and bias for action, and extraordinary communication abilities to lead cross-functional initiatives with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Here’s what you’ll do:
- Partner with product and engineering stakeholders to build data analytics to drive the product strategy, define the roadmap and features of HE’s core booking platform
- Design and evaluate experiments to understand the impact of product changes, and translate statistical analyses into clear, concise learnings
- Build and monitor success through KPIs, customer behavior data in order to inform product iteration and drive successful performance.
- Act as the expert for all product metrics and own tracking of trends, estimation of impact of new features, and all insights related to our users’ journey on the core booking platform (including conversion, segmentation and retention analyses)
- Work cross-functionally to instrument user events for all our products ensuring appropriate taxonomy and data governance through Amplitude
- Answer ambiguous, unstructured business questions with comprehensive data analyses
- Foster a culture of data-driven insights across the organization
Here’s what we’re looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in statistics, economics/econometrics or related quantitative field
- 5+ years working as a product data scientist/analyst or in a similar role
- Experience with web analytics and optimization of conversion / click-through
- Experience developing KPIs and OKRs as well as metric goals
- Experience analyzing experiments (A/B tests)
- Demonstrated ability to analyze large data sets, identify trends, conduct root cause analysis, and present findings
- Extensive experience building complex SQL queries, using Python for data/statistical analysis, and building powerful visualizations and reporting
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to summarize complex analyses for a non-technical audience
- Logically and strategically minded, recognizing that the most impactful but difficult to implement option may not be the most appropriate
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to distill complex issues and insights to non-technical audiences
- Experience in eCommerce or travel industry a plus
Cash Compensation:
- In addition to a compelling equity package, a reasonable expectation for total cash compensation for this role is between $170,000 - $200,000/year (made up of base plus bonus). Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including prior experience, expertise, and may vary from the amount above.
