What you’ll do:

Working with a close-knit and highly-collaborative group of colleagues, this is an exciting role that involves developing and applying expertise and creating innovation in multiple domains of insurance operations. The position serves as the primary data analytic and reporting resource for Medical Operations and Healthcare Strategy (MOHS). Areas of focus include medical provider network management, utilization management, bill payment, and others as assigned.

What you can expect:

  • Measure and trend aspects of medical provider quality, outcomes, utilization, and clinical practice variation. Interest, and ideally prior experience, in developing novel metrics and measurement methods in these domains.
  • Experience in the identification of cost and quality outliers to support the data-driven optimization of medical provider networks, cost containment, and the effective functioning of fraud, waste and abuse programs.
  • Detailed understanding and prior experience extracting, merging, and analyzing information from enterprise data warehouses and other kinds of data sources.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce.
  • Deep knowledge of and experience with Excel, including the use of pivot and lookup tables.
  • SQL coding experience. Some experience with relevant non-SQL programming languages such as Python.
  • Familiarity with data reporting and visualization tools such as Tableau and Looker.
  • Good familiarity with basic statistics and the application-based performance of statistical tests.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, medical billing, medical cost information, and insurance claims.
  • Familiarity with Lean principles.
  • Ability to multi-task and work efficiently in a busy environment; flexibility to alternate between on-site and remote work.
  • Provide assistance to multiple clients at the same time; strong communication skills and the ability to help clients clarify requests and formulate efficient, actionable queries that will answer clear-cut questions.
  • Highly organized; excellent coding documentation skills; strong ability to keep track of tasks and meet deadlines; detail-oriented; attentive to ensuring data integrity and analytic accuracy.
  • Proactive about identifying and solving problems; timely and resourceful in relation to soliciting help from external vendors and colleagues in Pinnacol’s Information Services (BIS) department.
  • Ability to adapt reports and dashboards for disparate audiences
  • Has a curious mindset; an openness to learning about and developing expertise in new software packages and applications.
  • Has a reasonable level of comfort with organizational change and sustained attention to continuous improvement.

What you’ll bring to the table:

4 year degree in business/economics, healthcare informatics or related field or relevant experience preferred. HIMSS Certification preferred. Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in a position involving the application of techniques of economic analysis, statistics, financial and/or information analysis in a healthcare related field. Experience in a hospital or managed care environment with a focus on medical data analysis and/or cost and utilization analysis.

If you decide to come into the office, we’re just seven miles from downtown Denver, in the heart of the Lowry neighborhood. Our office is minutes away from a variety of restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores, fitness facilities and lush parks and open spaces.
