BASIC FUNCTION:

The Enterprise Data Modeler role is a part of the BI/SQL Development Team and is responsible for creating and maintaining logical models and implementing best practices and design standards. The Data Modeler collaborates with Architecture, Development, Agile Teams, and Vendor Partners to design and maintain databases that meet organizational needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Create and maintain the logical and physical data models, which includes capturing and modeling project requirements as well as version control of the AAC Canonical Model and Physical Data Warehouse
  • Documents business data rules and translate them into usable database designs
  • Define and govern data modeling, design standards and best practices
  • Ability to write DDL and DML
  • Understand third party data models the organization interacts with
  • Thought leader for data migrations
    Responsible for understanding scale requirements
  • Reduce data redundancy
  • Resource for data integrations optimization
  • Review Agile Teams’ data models and participate in design reviews
  • Support the associations cloud transformation effort

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BS in Computer Science or BA with equivalent technical competency;
  • 5 + years’ experience creating and maintaining logical and physical data models;
  • Extensive experience with Entity Relationship Diagrams and a data modeling tool such as Erwin
  • Extensive experience applying dimensional modeling methods and design principles
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize individual work load, troubleshoot and remedy problems under pressing deadlines;
  • Strong analytical, problem solving skills, and time management skills in an operational environment;
  • Effectively using interpersonal and communications skills including tact and diplomacy;
  • Ability to successfully work under tight project deadlines;
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously
  • High attention to detail
  • Cloud based architecture experience a plus
  • Financial experience a plus
  • Agile experience a plus
  • Salesforce experience a plus

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 Must have the ability to perform basic office tasks and work in a typical office setting. Employee will be sitting for extended periods of time and accomplishing work at a desk and work at a computer for an extended period of time. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills to adequately convey ideas and work well with a team. Ability to talk and hear, sit and use their hands and fingers, and reach in all directions is essential in performance of the job. Some lifting and moving of items up to 25 pounds required. Work during established business hours and may require occasional weekend and/or evening work. Travel up to 10%.
