Director of Master Data Management (MDM)

The Role:

This position is responsible for creating and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for master data management processes to support Sales, Product Development, Operations, and Finance. Must have a strong balance of drive and perseverance, while understanding and managing the challenges and potential setbacks that change can introduce.

Responsibilities:

  • Will be responsible for working with the business to define the scope of Master Data Management (MDM) and processes to be covered by this central MDM function.
  • Will be responsible for creating and developing MDM strategy, processes, KPI’s, developing the MDM team, and working with cross-functional stakeholders across the company to ensure compliance with enterprise data standards, governance and defined SOPs.
  • Will oversee functions related to the collection, aggregation, consolidation, maintenance of data throughout the organization and ensure the integrity of the master database. 
  • Will have management oversight of data managers and employees directly and indirectly reporting into the MDM function to ensure SOP adherence.
  • Will provide oversight of the data management systems while ensuring the proper procedures are in place for maintaining data integrity.
  • Will consistently search for methods to develop and lead an agile and committed departmental workforce.
  • Will effectively analyze the probability, control, and impact of risks identified through root cause analysis and effectively implement corrective actions.
  • Other projects or duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

 

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Information Management or a related field.
  • 8-10 years relevant functional management and team leadership experience.
  • 8+ years’ experience with data quality issues and experience in developing processes.
  • Must have excellent analytical skills and ability to work with multiple departments to create and maintain the database.
  • Must have ability to prepare reports and convey critical information in a way that is useful to the end user(s).
  • Must have ability to manage conflict by identifying and handling issues in a sensible, fair, and efficient manner.
  • Must have skill in effective communication, problem solving, and negotiating with a focus on internal customer and department interests.
  • Must have strong oral and written communications skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel.
  • Must be able to collaborate on concepts and processes across a variety of company departments.
  • Must have a strong balance of drive and perseverance while understanding and managing the challenges and potential setbacks that change can engender within an organization.
