The role:
The Director of Data Analytics within the automotiveMastermind (aM) Product Insights team will play a leading role in:

  • Measuring the effects of aM in the market, communicating the value each product within the portfolio delivers, and identifying opportunities to strengthen the products and the processes by which they are created
  • Contributing to a sustainable and thriving data culture. You will be a key role model as we shape what the future of business intelligence and data-driven decisions within our organization
  • Championing data integrity and management; supporting the establishment of data governance policies and processes
  • Guiding and supporting the design and creation of an analytical reporting mart, ensuring optimal flexibility and extensibility
  • Translating data into the information and insights required to design and execute future business strategies that yield exponentially higher results for our customers


Key responsibilities of this role:

  • Constantly advocating for a data-informed approach. Partnering with business leaders to build their own analytical capabilities and, with it, trust in the analytics solutions being developed and the benefits that data-driven solutions can provide
  • Enabling a global team of analysts to possess the requisite business acumen, industry expertise, business process knowledge, and system awareness including upstream and downstream dependencies, to perform the following:
  • a) Rigorous identification, analysis, and interpretation of trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • b) Application of deep, creative, rigorous thinking to solve broad, platform-wide technical and/or business problems
  • c) Design and development of management reports and supporting ad hoc analyses answering key questions such as:
  • Is the product performance aligned with the sales pitch?
  • Are key product components delivering value?
  • Is marketing outreach effective?
  • Are results consistent across clients?
  • d) Creation of client-facing visualizations to clearly articulate the aM value proposition and identify business opportunities for internal and external stakeholders
  • e) Identification of risk/sources of error across products and processes and development of short-term preventive or detective measures
  • Collaborating with commercial and product teams to identify business needs, understand distinct problems, transform ambiguity into clearly defined requirements, tasks, and timelines, and provide thought leadership and strategic advice to businesses
  • Managing a complex roadmap with multiple projects at various stages of development (research, data schema design, data engineering, quality testing, visualization design, user testing, production release) and providing appropriate updates to a full range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Coordinating with data engineers as appropriate to design and enable repeatable processes and generate deliverables to answer routine business questions
  • Managing department priorities, holding direct reports accountable to deadlines, service level agreements, and quality standards
  • Identifying and assessing additional data assets that could be leveraged to meet a given business need


Who you are:

  • You have a Bachelors' degree in mathematics, engineering, economics, statistics, computer science, information management or related quantitative field
  • You have a minimum of 8 years professional experience as a data analyst or in a similar analytical + technical role and 3 years of people leadership in similar roles. Additional relevant education will be considered in lieu of experience
  • It is strongly preferred that you have automotive experience in sales operations, finance, market analysis, or a similar analytical function
  • You are passionate about empirical research and data-driven decision making. You have significant experience in analyzing and manipulating large, complex, high-dimensional data from numerous sources using Excel and/or Tableau for analysis and SQL for data extraction.
  • You have experience leading multiple projects and managing competing deadlines, either independently or as part of a team
  • You diligently assess your own performance and adapt your work strategies for continuous improvement
  • You have a proven track record of delivering innovative solutions and robust analyses through teamwork
  • You are able to lead a cross-functional group in a unified direction while providing learning and career growth opportunities
  • You have the ability to think quickly on your feet and handle ambiguity
  • You are a solid communicator, fluent in both "tech" and "exec" and capable of nimbly shifting between them to ensure your message is received as intended
  • You are comfortable working with a globally distributed team across time zones
